  1. thank you. I haven't had a phone call so fingers crossed she's not too bad.
  2. been up most of the night looking after my daughter, all symptoms of heat stroke there, thankfully wasn't sick in the end but had a bad tummy all the same. Did everything i could to cool her down and even so she felt a bit dizzy and i gave her a note to tell the school how she is in the heat and with instructions that if she feels bad to ask to come home. We are on the cusp of having a sotty letter home if shes off again so it's up to the school to send her home. Am a little worried tbh. School is now doing a risk assessment, as our letter also high lighted my concerns about next week, but expect 'keeping her home' won't be an option. Had a better night last night as we had some cooling rain, so our bedroom with *only* 25c in the end. Hope you all slept better
  3. a few drops of rain here. wasn't expecting that. well i was Met0 had a rain symbol yesterday and the took it away.
  4. It is so humid, although there is a slight breeze. My daughter has come home with mild heat stoke again and feels hot, tried and sick. Very surprised to hear other parents complain about the heat and comparing it to a Holiday, which would be fine because you can go jump in the pool. on the subject of water, the water supply to my daughters block is still broken.
  5. My late parents had a friend who would always be out sun bathing. Even if they were visiting, she would meet them from the garden. So it was no surprise when she got skin cancer on her leg from a change in a mole.
  6. I already have my other thread, you do a October fog index one
  7. i hope you feel better soon no i'm still here.
  8. I understand there has been a cobra meeting for this heat now. Scary stuff. A water pump went in out area aswell causing people not to have water, so probably something toido with my daughters schools sudden shortage. Last night was awful Felt like a big blanket of hot, humid air in the bedroom and i couldn't feel the fan. Went from 30c to just over 27c so still very warm. I actually have woken up feeling, although i have barely slept, quite ill. I have never felt it so close in the house before.
  9. We aren't there yet! We have already pulled her out of a 5k run as we can't understand the head thinking they can just swan off and do a run like that without training, especially in the summer months. She leaves that school this term and they will be doing bug all, apart from games and being made to sing in the car park with her leavers hoodie on of which her rebel mum will be grabbing her after it early. Health of my child is more important considering now she won't be missing any education as her stats are done. ( and she passed with flying colours )
  10. Looks like a lovely blanket of cloud has appeared to keep that good old heat trapped in. still 29c here, Have decided that in the unlikely event we are forecast 40c me and my daughter will be taking the day off. school will just kick them out into the field and they lost water in their block today from 11am! 40c? No water? no way! She has her report and attendance down, last week of term. *shrug*
  11. wouldn't worry me. My grandfather was Irish so it's about time i went there.
  12. I am hoping the weather Gods are kind and after this heat we get some good storms. And i mean good storms. Too hot for me now and the school run beckons. Going to wow everyone in my straw hat.
  13. Had four hours sleep last night but haven't beaten the no sleep i got when our room got to 33c one year. Our super duper fan will be making its way there if it gets that hot which is quite likely. It is a godsend. Even so we hit 31c and we have a mini version of the down stairs one which makes it more bearable, all windows open and another fan just by the bed. Coolest room was the en -suite where the cat was. was 21c outside when we went on the school run. At least there is a breeze atm.
  14. what did we do when shops closed at 5pm and all day sunday?
  15. Most huh? TBH you have no idea what it's like to be a woman of a 'certain' age when you have hot flushes or night sweats. In the summer.
  16. Crikey I thought our 28c was bad enough!
  17. I'm hoping this heat we are getting might spark some storms off, my other thread is getting a bit lonely! *blows off the dust*
  18. It's 25c but 28c inside my house. Maybe you guys should start a heat lovers thread and leave this one alone?
  19. I don't think i've had so many fans on and we still haven't reached peak heat this week. In fact i barely remember having to need a fan growing up on the coast. It's so hot that my hubby had ordered one of those big dyson fans.
  20. yep.Outside at present isn't the issue. It's in doors. Good old double glazing and a boarded up loft make for a 26c upstairs.
  21. oh well looks like the heat is coming back
  22. Sad day for me as it marks 12 years since i lost my dad, 2 months before he met his Granddaughter. Had to be up early the last few days and have enjoyed the nice weather, but could tell this morning it's warming up. Still a nice breeze.
  23. Bedford had two fires yesterday, one was a gas explosion in a block of flats, the other a faulty sign at Sainsbury's. Scary. Weather is not scary. But loving the cool temps.
  24. We are growing sunflowers for a guide badge and out of two weeks we've only had to water them a handful of times. I think we are stealing it
