Had to turn the fan off last night. Coolnesss! It seems that things are going to get worst, however. Almost a week of 30+temps. and no storms!

I love looking at storms on you tube, really makes me want to wake up to the sound of an approaching storm, as we have had one storm here this year. I would gladly take some thunder with the rain for sure!

Afternoon everyone and great posts @TomSE12 It is much cooler now thank heavens, had to resort to our summer duvet last night but very welcomed i could do that none the least. House still warm while i sorted out some things, but cloudy so no sun making it warmer. I am hoping for rain. Where we live there is a piece of waste ground, which at one time was earmarked for a petrol station but it never happened, but what we do have it is a car park which was 'supposed' to be a park and ride and yet again that didn't happen. What we do have is a meeting ground for the many youths in the area, loud music (which is the kind i like, lol., so i don't mind as much) revving engines, drug taking well you get the idea. All it takes is a lit match or discarded cigarette and our houses would be in trouble. I'm hoping people are sensible.

well back to 28c in the bedroom at night. Just to think some models are showing 40c again. I really hope it doesn't verify.

morning all. Unfortunately it looks like you will be right. I have been keeping an eye and it does look like we are in for an extended period of hot weather. I am sorting the house and getting up early to do stuff while it's cooler but i'm fighting a losing battle. The humidity is something else right now. I fear this winter will be tough for many this year, which is why i'm thinking about setting up a 'support' ( to think of a better name) winter thread, so people can discuss the weather and other things that may help, or just to talk. I prefer the cooler months, but i remember all too well the downside (such as de-icing the car at 5:30am) and now we have the added worry of fuel bills. It partly depends on what other threads appear, but I shall be judging it closer to the time.

We have a few nests in our grass, they keep coming back. Some are brown and they bite, well they appeared to hurt running over my feet, like little pin pricks. But the worst thing are wasps. I had a massive hornet/wasp in the house in march, took ages to get rid of the thing. next door had a nest once, that was fun. Another thing to add to the horrible list.

We get ants and Blue Bottles . Horrible horrible things. Love the bins so much that we have ours cleaned by a very nice man every bin day or we end up with maggots and stinky bins! yuck. I hate how humid it is right now, our rooms aren't getting past 25c+ and we have had very little rain. Oh for a storm!

It depends what kind of thread. people hate winter too ofc, but it could be more for sharing tips how to keep warm, recipes and the like or sharing what they like about winter. It shall be a case of wait and see.

Hi all I quite agree about the log burner. I wish we had room! I'm not sure about a winter thread, would it be a winter lovers thread or a haters? I find winter hits a bit differently to 40c heat BUT if people would be interested in me setting up a 'winter thread' then let me know or like the post.

Nearly half my daughters year didn't go in mon/tues as i was expecting the snotty letter from school. Don't feel so bad now! It is so humid, dear god why. There were people wearing track suits today. why. phew.

By everyone standards we had quite a bit of rain last night, path in front of our house briefly flooded. Much welcomed. Now it just a humid mess.

woke up to the cloudy 'there were storms but you didn't get one' humidness this morning. Felt fresher until the sun came out and whoop it is humid now. 21c but feels much hotter.

Morning @TomSE12 and everyone. Well we made it. I hope everyone is ok. Much fresher today (atm) but very humid. I am shattered. Hopefully there won't be any more 40c+ in the forecast, but 25+ is still very warm (be it more normal temperatures) If you are still suffering i hope you feel better soon.

looking at the news and seeing those awful fires. Heart breaking. A nursery in MK was one of those Bedford is at 39, where i used to work half an hours drive hit 40c. No nap for us, our room is 35c and i can feel the heat burning my arm.

We have reached 40c at Heathrow hang in there we can do this! Bonus points for it being in December.

I was only thinking how hot the clubs i used to frequent in my 20's and how i was fine, while a friend was always complaining how hot she was and yet when i have gone away i have found heat to make me very sleepy and headachy. I have been waking up feeling very odd the last few mornings but i think it's a bit of anxiety, because i'm worried about my family. Another thing is --drinking. I have never been a big drinker, i will have a cup of tea in the morning then maybe something to drink lunch time/dinner time but i find making myself drink because of the heat really hard. case in point, most of my friends would get drunk on pints, i was always on shots! My daughter is the same, i have to keep reminding her, to the point when the school had no water she didn't drink for 4 hours because she didn't want to wait to be taken to the main block to use the loos there. One of the reason we have pulled her the last few days.
