  1. It's raining a bit more now and it lovely outside. The smell of summer rain is quite special, with or without thunder. If it does a mental up north that will be 'as per usual'
  2. Yep we got some 'light-ish' rain and it's getting dark, but after the heat it a welcome break. I don't expect any thunder, although I've got a bit of a 'head; coming on. MetO pretty much thinks we are drying up,
  3. OMG I missed it. Edit. no, no a few drops of rain here now, the remains of what could of been
  4. Yeah I'm still here. Perfect BBQ weather. hardly any cloud, a breeze and warm. Oh well.
  5. clouding over here, quite a strong breeze , feels warm and humid too. can see clouds building, but if anything heads my way is yet to be seen.
  6. morning all, Up early with little one, so looking at these forums with interest. Some great looking convection outside already here! would post a pic, but both camera's in the house are missing and my phone has decided it needs a charge. Here's hoping my area get something. (not at 3pm please)
  7. Just rushed out to get the washing off the line I put there earlier . Still, clear and cool outside. And the washing wasn't even dry
  8. I understand perfectly that weather will do it's thing, no forecast is 100%, that 77% of a storm is just a computer based figure and doesn't mean anything will happen. Which it didn't, according to the strike Map on the other thread, My location and MK in a tiny circle got no lightning today but 30mins down the road was lucky. Thought this thread was to moan nay complain about lack of storms...?
  9. perfect weather to get my washing on the line without the worry of showers. Warm, sunny and a breeze.
  10. I got nothing but rain, and now just murky murk murk. Disappointed!
  11. just rain and it looks like the sun wants to peek though, so it looks like i'll be posting in the 'no storm club' today. Not a bean of anything thundery.
  12. I got my light rain in the end. rejoice. MetO was actually right For now.
  13. was hoping to get woken up during the night, but when I did at 4:30 I peaked out only to see a cloudless sky!. Roll on 4 hours and it looked like the 'light rain' MetO thought I would get, so radar up and I saw lots of storms no where near me. Oh well, there a few more hours left in the day. c'mon give me a storm
  14. Best place for me watching storms was beachy head. Nice view over the channel and all the surrounding area behind it, of course its high up and risky, so not somewhere i'd walk about in a thunderstorm, although I did see a group of people once get out and happily do so.
  15. Yes, I find where I live now to be one of the most annoying places ever for storms. I used to work 30mins away and we had some lovely storms overhead, be it I was in a room with no windows..June28th 2012 classic example of storms being close but not close enough. Would love to be out and about later, but my little one wears me out! I'm like a kid in a toy shop when it comes to storms, I have to say..Hubby doesn't quite understand the' look out of every window' and run out bare foot with a camera thing I have. Thunderstorms just knock out our sky and we normally lose power, and are a pain rather than something to be enjoyed. A-hem! I dare say the fear of disappointment out weights the fact I might have some of the best storms I have seen since I moved away from the coast. And it's so easy to look at the worst forecast and accept that's what i'm getting rather than celebrate the fact the risk is there and very much alive. But thanks for your input peeps! I kinda forget i'm a 'thunderhead' junkie as well as a storm freak and i'm sure even if I don't get a storm I will have some amazing clouds to look at and photo, and that;s something to look forward too
  16. Look on the bright side... Where I am is now an 'isolated risk' of stormy stuff. *cries*
  17. and so the waiting game begins.... Good luck all, I got a stock of ice creams in just in case
  18. I fear Bedford is doomed for Saturday. I'm ever so loving the storm forecast for that day, although i'm sure it just needs to be updated. I'm hoping that a cape of 2363j/Kg and an Li of -8 maybe quite good if it stays like that? Just wondering why there isn't more warnings out there, if it could become quite bad in places. Still got the yellow in Met O but at least my light rain is now tah dah! Heavy showers.
  19. I don't think i'll end up with any thing. It's all going west. I blame my light rain.
  20. Think I'm going to go with 'light rain' and see what the clouds tell me on Saturday. When i was living by the south downs. It was summer and my dad called me outside to show me the funnel cloud over the hills just before we had a storm. I wish I had, had some way of taking a picture then, could clearly see the rotation and everything- amazing. sadly it is the only one i have seem since and that was maybe 30 years ago.
  21. A lot of people I know find the weather boring, but when I younger I was very interested in fashion and would argue a girl needs to know what the weather is going to do, so to know what to wear! My late father would love to jump in the car and chase with me, we used to go all over Sussex and Kent and met with some lovely, rain too heavy to drive storms. The thing I like is the minutes before the storm comes - the heat, the humidity, the low rumble of thunder- just the anticipation of whats to come. Love going out for a walk during weather like that.
  22. At lot of forecasts still look good for my area, then I had a look at MetO (for saturday) Even although I'm in the yellow warning area they have given me :- (wait for it) light rain http:////f1.nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/wallbash.gif
  23. I know I shouldn't take it as gospel, but 85% of a storm does sounds nice. In fact most of the day from 10am on wards a risk of storms sounds very nice. (I won't get too hung up over that 85% Still a few more days to go and all but it says 85%, after all) Met office doesn't give my area the thunder treatment though. Shame.
