    Even looking at the MLCAPE charts there is pretty much nothing until the early hours?

    I may be wrong but surely any storms that fire in N France this evening wouldn't make it past the French coast because of virtually no CAPE or anything over the channel and south of England?

    So disappointed last night, walked down to the beach hoping for a lightning show instead only one distant flash in two hours....oh well there'll always be another plume :')

    I was wondering as well what the trigger was since there the atmosphere over Northern France is more unstable than here?

    I don't know if it's been mentioned the BBC video forecast from this evening showing a completely different forecast to what their rainfall model on their website has been...must have been a last minute update! Even a possibility of severe thunderstorms mentioned and thunder and lightning WIDESPREAD in the south east?? I must be dreaming...

    On the BBC forecast that was referred to the first batch of storms seemed to be placed slightly further East and continously pass through Sussex and then on to London and EA, but I agree that many charts seem to be putting it further east...finger crossed eh?

    I remember it now, I was doing some music rehearsals in a church funnily enough and there was the loudest gunshot thunder I've ever heard with the speakers crackling at the same time....we thought that maybe the lightning hit the conductor on the top of the building

    When people mention past events it always makes me wonder if there is/should be somewhere where there are historical charts for comparison? If would actually be so useful

    Well it's been a very quiet day on the south coast....all the action has been at least 20km north as per usual. Can see the anvil tops of the cells over north Sussex/ south Surrey, hoping for something soon

    Yes there was a brief squally shower with one nice rumble of thunder but no lightning seen, despite blitz showing 4 strikes 5km from my location...

    Very calm here at the moment, almost no wind with light rain and feeling milder than earlier...calm before the storm?

    I do seem to remember sleeping right through that...i went to sleep feeling disappointed and when I checked on the Blitzortung app when I woke up I was shocked to see there had been a few storms that had looked impossible when i went to sleep
