  1. If you take it easy for 30 mins after eating I’m pretty sure the food will settle very nicely oh you mean the storms….
  2. Literally ends up the same place as last weeks’ storms. Ridiculous!
  3. Heavy sky, humid, heavy rain. And just as Thor was reaching across for the “sferic” button (he really needs to get it moved closer to the desk) he looked at the location and said ”Surrey? Naaa **** that.” So much potential. Maybe this will give someone in London something good?
  4. Again we are at the point where even the storm of the year will not break us even with other parts of the U.K. But that is not to say the storm of the year is not welcome here. I’m just saying we are so far behind in the storm contest that we are just silly clowns, sitting in a stormless corner, with nothing to say to each other, eating the leftover crisps and being pitied by the others in the room who are all sharing photos, videos and stories about how their lives were changed by the storms. (Just an analogy)
  5. This from Metcheck (my second favourite after UKWW): Weekly Storm Forecast - From 12 September 2023 Europe Full Charts For Europe A cold front will clear Southeast through the course of today, but the system becomes complex as it moves Southeast with a frontal wave developing to the Southwest and this running Northeast along the front bringing some large scale uplift for a time as it crosses Southeast and Eastern areas of England. The risk of some embedded thunderstorms developing for a time and moving East as the front continues to move Southeast across East Anglia and Southeast England :- On Sunday the GFS (and more so the ECMWF) develops a plume to the South of the UK which introduces a lobe of unstable and moist air to the South of the UK which moves North. An incoming through to the West will allow a rather well primed atmosphere to develop across Southern and Central areas of England with the risk of thunderstorms later on Sunday and overnight into Monday before cooler air returns from the West :-
  6. To be honest I’d forgotten I’d planned that. I don’t know if it would be wise now, considering the Waterlooville supercell that is anticipated
  7. Little cell popping up over hants. Hoping it does something fun, I need fun from the sky
  8. Excellent video - I reckon it’s worth you investing in a boom mic, would have been amazing to get the pure thunder during the approach and the heaviest bits
  9. What I like about this is it shows that an elevated storm during the day DOES have visible lightning but often it’s only really noticeable afterwards on video or through the photography. There was a huge amount of electrical activity in that storm but you probably see about 10% in the video always worth considering this when planning to chase. Staring at torrential rain is fantastic but is it worth all the time and energy (and money) if you can’t see the lightning? Well that’s the important question
  10. Speaking of the past here is yesterday’s full (sped-up) footage from the Peterborough cam (the full thing was 1.5gb!) IMG_7878.MOV
  11. Looking forward to looking forward to the possibility of storms somewhere down here. Yesterday looked like a stonker, but it’s happened now - let’s look at what’s to come and not dwell on the past lol
  12. The Atlantic is a major influence on our weather - if you look at the track of the weather on a ‘traditional’ day the kindest land-track is from Cornwall all the way up to lincs. This gives the biggest possible injection of energy from landmass-warming as the cells cross what is generally fairly flat ground. Ever noticed that most storms in lincs hit in the afternoon? Solar heating peak! unfortunately the rest of us are in breadcrumb territory lol
  13. I think there’s a chance. I don’t care if it doesn’t happen anyway, we still have October which is basically summer these days lol
  14. I am heartwarmed by this moving story of survival. I am considering selling commemorative T-shirts if anyone is interested. On the back they say: “I’m being serious the SE is in with a shout later”
  15. My evenening forecasts are actually based on the possibility of a shortwave in the SE corner - there’s hope for us yet!
