  1. Euro4 showing some snow for the region tonight towards midnight before turning to rain as the warmer uppers move in.
  2. Well the PL has started further north than all of the showers today and they have scouted to our south and in to Yorkshire. Maybe with a bit of luck it will make it to us...wishful thinking?
  3. https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/82413-tracking-the-potential-polar-low-thursday-into-friday/page-2
  4. Talk of a genuine polar low in the mod thread. It can be seen off the NW Scotland on this satellite link. http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html Unsure of track but shows the unpredictability in this setup.
  5. Just drove home from Kibblesworth to Washington. Snowing all the way, A1 all 3 lanes covered in snow. Saw 1 gritter but it wasn't plowing or gritting. Could be interesting in the morning if this freezes over. Good start to the spell, lets hope we get even better when the winds swing round at the weekend.
  6. Showers look a lot more aggresive than your usual NW flow on the radar and there's plenty of them. They are being zipped along by the strong wind meaning they aren't fizzling out as quickly as usual. BBC has heavy snow starting from 16:00 until early hours. Let's see how this pans out.
  7. Fingers and toes crossed. An exciting day of radar watching tomorrow at least.
  8. Comparing the location of the low to where the charts predicted it to be it is about 45 miles further north so you never know. I wouldn't hold my breath though.
  9. Pressure centre just off the coast and showers seems to rotating around it. Wet snow in Washington now.
  10. Alternating between rain, sleet & snow all morning in Washington, very marginal conditions. I hope the charts for Tue/Wed are right but I can't help feel it's just not cold enough for the snow we all want.
  11. Got to say although it feels cold it doesn't feel cold enough for snow at the minute. Fingers crossed for the coming week.
  12. Chaos theory, despite our best guesses and predictions, we cannot take in to account the vast number of links and factors that make up our weather. Even if we try, getting just one factor slightly off causes huge differences down the line. It's just the nature of the game and what keeps us all coming back!
  13. Exactly. Better than watching the drivel on TV or going clubbing!
  14. I do it quite often when snow is on the horizon. I'm a car enthusiast and mine is kitted out with good snow tyres and its good to have experience driving in these conditions. You've seen the traffic carnage we have in this country when it snows and it's simply because people have no idea how to drive to the conditions. At no point was I out of control or in a dangerous situation, you can come along next time if you wish! Just like the storm chasers in USA, no point sitting waiting for the snow to come to me when I have a perfectly good car to go find it myself.
  15. Just been for a drive out. Blizzard conditions and about an inch of snow on the road from Kirkwhelpington onwards on the A696. Snow tyres did brilliantly but didn't risk the run up to Carter Bar.
  16. I'm also back for this winter. Early days but it can't be worse than last year! Hoping to see a few flakes tomorrow even if it doesn't settle.

  18. Well not much on the radar but its. snowing moderately and the street has.gone white here in Washington.
  19. Things could get very interesting if the ppn in the north sea falls as snow (currently snow in Washington). What are the temps and dps forecast to do tonight? Will the wind pick up and push warmer air over the coastal region?
  20. Car was like an ice cube at 7 this morning, must have been frozen rain here.
  21. Very impressed with this frontal event. I was expecting light sleet at best as is usual in these setups for us, but its been all snow, moderate intensity and a few cms built up now. Much better than usual!
  22. You can see the life being sucked out of the band as it crosses the pennines on the radar loop. Hope some managed to make it over.
  23. Well this is unexpected, everything is white again. Just been up the A1 from Team Valley to Washington Services and all lanes were white.
