Goodness it is so very windy around these parts. Anyone else experiencing windy weather? It has even snapped a branch of one of the sycamores at the top of the garden. Very lucky really as it just missed my washing line and could so easily have broken it.

A very nice drink indeed Snowycat, I used to work for the Manners family personally on the the local Haddon Estate who developed the soft drinks and whines for Belvoir many years ago.
I’ve tried all sorts of Orange Cordial or Squash and, in my humble view, you simply cannot beat Belvoir Orange Cordial. It is expensive at £3.25 a bottle but being severely curtailed with all things nice due to my exceptionally sensitive coeliac disease I insist on treating myself to this All their other cordials are tasty as well.

Belvoir Orange Cordial and sometimes I’ll treat myself to Pip and Wild flavoured cider (if I can get it)

@Snowycat I'm sorry to read there has been more problems, I'm grateful for people like you to care and nurture for them and find loving homes. Thankyou for all you do.
Thankfully, the lady who owns the rescue is a retired paramedic so has transferable skills to deal with these things.

She sadly lost another kitten shortly after the first so she has just 2 left now. Fingers and toes crossed she can raise these safely, she is a lovely little girl and a very attentive mummy. She’s only a kitten herself though and lost all but one of her first litter. Came from a dreadful home, neglected and abused. Because they hadn’t bothered to get them neutered, we think her brother may have fathered both sets of kittens and so we sort of expected a few problems along the way. The rescue took in 9 cats and kittens in total from the place.
I foster for a local cat rescue so mummy will be spayed as soon as she is ready and all 3 will go up for homing. I’m always tempted to keep my mummy cats as they tug at my heart strings. The lady who runs the rescue is tough on the homing front though and makes very sure the homes are safe, secure and loving before she will release them.
Here she is.
@Rush2112 @Ed Stone we had more trauma with this family. Mummy had a retained dead kitten, which thankfully she expelled but at the same time one of her remaining kittens faded pretty quickly. All taken to vets and the little girl kitten has a very bad cleft palate. She is now being tube fed until about 4 weeks of age when she’ll be weaned onto solids. Plan is to repair the cleft at 4 months of age, spay at same time and by 6 months she should be normal. Fingers crossed. The rescue has called her May. Mummy has just one little kitten left to look after.

Wow, lovely, hope mum and kitties are doing well. Are you keeping them or will you be looking for new homes for them?

my foster mummy has had her kittens this evening. Unfortunately the second kitten was stillborn. Hope she doesn't have anymore. Three will be enough for her to look after.

How wonderful! My Scarlet was almost 21 when I had to let her go. I think my Lewis is developing dementia. He carries a URT virus which has knocked him about and he developed a head tilt and some deafness with it. I rescued him at the top of my garden in a very sorry state some 11 years ago. He’s a very gentle boy.

Oh yes, they are little monsters at times but I love them all. I found this compassion today for such a beautiful cat. Just like mum’s Max.

Sadly our family lost our much loved Bengal cat this week, in his last few days he was very tired and stopped eating. He had a heart condition which was fine after some initial treatment though his health declined last week. He spent his last night sleeping in my Mum's arms the whole night after sleeping on her lap during the previous day.
He was put to sleep and died peacefully and there has been a fair few tears. We loved him and given his last few days, I think it's clear that cats can love their owners too.
So sorry to hear about your sad loss. I lost my part bengal girlie suddenly in February, she was only 9. It is so heartbreaking to lose them.

Parrots develop a very deep emotional relationship with their human counterpart.
And almost all parrots bond for life.
Parrots will pick up on the emotion of the person the moment they walk in. I guess it's in their interest to sense danger.
My Congo African Grey is an enjoyable fruit cake who loves an argument and will quite happily swear at me but I wouldn't have it any other way.
did you ever see the video of the fire fighter trying to rescue a parrot off a roof? The bird kept telling the fireman to go forth and multiply - it really was so funny.

One of my 'worries' is, why? Sometimes it's hard to see why any animal would want to love humans:
I often wonder myself with some of the cases we get within cat rescue.
I recall seeing a documentary about weaponising dogs, just awful.

Cats cannot it's impossible(they lack that part of the brain) for them but most other animals can
Disagree. I’ve just spent time with my pregnant foster cat as I do each day. She came from a drug addict home and was both neglected and abused. Every night she sits on my lap, playing the piano and puts her head in my neck purring and trilling for comfort. Mongy one of my old cats (long since deceased) would gently touch my face with his paws as did mums old Maine Coone cat Josh when she cradled him like a baby (a big 7kg baby!). Likewise one of my current cats Lewis amazes the vets with his outward shows of affection to me when he's at the vet, he almost kisses my nose and purrs and purrs. . And when I knew my father was dying I sat and cried and cried and my Scarlet became very distressed and tried to comfort me. Sorry but it may simply be you cannot connect with them

Have to say today has seen a lovely dose of heavy steady rain, just what the gardens needed. Hopefully I will be able to get the first dig of the garden beds done over the next couple of days.
-
Thankfully some rain overnight but nowhere near enough for the gardens unfortunately. Really could do with a couple of days of steady rain to quench the garden and make it easier for the first post winter dig over and weed.

Yea why do we not get April showers anymore?! It's weird! I hate our lack of seasons!
Very dry of late here. Have been gardening today but the heavy digging of the top gardens will need to wait until we get a decent downpour to soften it. Noticed the pond level going down as well so will need to top it up tomorrow I think.

Yes, loads of local Farcebook reports of people feeling the earth move! I didn’t feel anything myself but the cats were chasing around a bit and they are far more sensitive to these things than us mere humans.
