Easterly incoming
all just for fun of caurse at this stage but it is nice to look at though.
Interesting that as nick Sussex said this afternoon that there looks to be a huge cold blast into to the plains in America.. This could be one of the outcomes on the table. Push the high pressure a bit further north and we could be looking at a cold spell.

Ummm try watching the week ahead video forecast....

The two eye-catching charts that Nouska posted earlier in the thread have been updated:
Some updates from the RAPID cruise, too.
Wow it looks to be cooling off very quickly to my untrained eye. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

It has been a shocking couple of days in nw Wales with regard to extensive heavy rain. Does anyone know where I can get a local accurate amount of rainfall in the last 48 hrs??
-
It hasn't rained that much. Yes it's rained most days this week but not high totals overall. Plus it's been dry for some time so I'm sure the ground can cope. more rain to Coke but hardly anything too unusual.
I would say that you live in an area not affected much by the rain of late. It has been shocking here in nw Wales for the last week. I would say easily 100 mm this week.

Yes it is interesting (not that it will verify) but I find it interesting because as that nasty little depression deepens rapidly and zips down from northern Scotland into eastern Europe into would briefly bring storm conditions to the southern North Sea with gusts around 80kts.
But anything is possible when it comes to meteorology so verification could still happen, but I agree that it's only a slim chance.

Given the current analysis you couldn't make it up.
Surely with all the rain and low pressures running over Spain and Portugal at the moment this can't be right???

What impacts would a midoki El nino have on us here in the uk?? Just seen a quote regarding it.

Remember that H500 NH anomaly pattern suggested for November with the distinctive Atlantic trough?
Well here is the day 15 EPS anomaly pattern courtesy of wb
Typical El Nino November?
What do you expect to be normal El nino weather patterns chino?? Sorry I'm still learning.

The BBC made a cryptic reference to the coming winter this morning. I was watching the lovely Steph McGovern deliver a piece about energy suppliers and she said if the coming winter is any more severe than currently forecast there could be problems with our energy supple.
So which forecast is she referring to and I wonder how severe it is forecast to be! More questions than answers from Ms McGovern.
Maybe she has been to speak to John madden (he is the best forecaster ever) hahhahahahahahaha

What on earth is 'seasonal'?? Lol in all fairness if there is a storm track that far south then we will get loads of.opportunities for snow with east and North East and northerly winds frequently in the making. unless I'm reading things wrong
-
Just a quick question. With the weather patterns being amplified at the moment is this good for the hopes of a cold winter??
-
On the topic of the cold Atlantic it seems to be sending low pressure around the cold pool and if you look at the current hurricane forecast it seems to be going around the edge towards ne America is this typical of what is thought to happen in these scenarios??

The Met Office doesn't have a great record with these sort of predictions, who remembers back in 2003 after that summers record breaking heat that we (in the uk) should expect those sort of temperatures (100+F) to occur in 1 in every 3 summers.... 15 summers later and it aint happened again, so whatever long range models they use I for one would not take them too seriously............

Autumnal feeling day, generally overcast and feeling quite fresh after a very fresh start. Trees are taking on there autumnal hues, however, acorns and blackberries are slow to come out this year. Anyone else notice this...
A lot less blackberries this year and squirrels are everywhere

Met. Office news release.
Big changes underway in the climate system?
I would like to know from met office where is it warming as I think the years are cooling here in Britain obviously depending where you live. But for me it's cool all year round
