Yes already encountering some wet snow/sleet in some of the showers.
Maybe as temps rise a little today east coast and low lying areas may only see sleet/hail

I did not say it would be near. i said remind. And what will remind is snow showers coming in off a slack NE flow that does not get moderated too much by the N.Sea. I was never thinking it was going to be a 2010 event. That was a once in a life time one.
Anyway. All eyes to the radar. Especially when the flow turns NE as thats when streamers can form.
Once in a lifetime indeed....
I obviously took that text and read it a different way to how you wanted it to come across... Easily done
Will be a slow burner tonight i think, as you say tomorrow holds more potential

I am not talking about tonight. At the peak - possibly tomorrow night
Still no-where near 2010 in terms of snow showers and accumulating snow.
Unless i'm missing something lol.
These showers already forming lines SE to NW

People go way over the top in here. I'm willing to be proven wrong but tonight/tomorrow is not going to be anything like 2010.
Agree, I had thundersnow all night with about 15-20cm accumulating.
Tonight is just a scattering of slow moving sleet/snow showers that will give a covering in places.
Though i get the point of the slack NE'ly - Easterly cold flow and last years BFTE focused the snow on the east pennines

Could get plenty sleet, hail and snow showers Friday into Saturday and a covering here and there

Indeed.
Was actually a bit surprised as it honestly doesn't feel that cold outside in the sunshine
Try working in it and tell me that

Yes many of the hi-res models picking up snow showers Thursday night into friday with these probably forming bands or streamers at times.
Sunday evening into monday could have a snow risk as a front moves across the region...just one to watch for now

A bit of warmth in that Sun today
That bit of warmth as helped form some showers inland across southern england and even noticed the clouds increase up here too but this now fading.
Very cold night ahead, maybe the coldest so far this winter???

A little more positive about Thursday night/Friday morning.
Yes we miss out on the low to the south but that low will help bring a cluster of wintry showers from the north sea, probably forming in lines so some will see more than others and will definitely be a radar watching night for sure lol. With it being night time this will help snow showers settle away from the east coast, a more wintry mix there but snow inland and decent dew points, upper temps etc look favourable this time.

Well that was exciting
Really thought we might of had more falling snow today, didn't expect much settling snow away from high ground mind. So in that respect i'm not too disapointed.

Sleet in Aycliffe currently.
Weird day really. Had snow this morning, then rain and now sleet. On the road earlier and pretty much all rain down stockton, boro and darlington.
Snow line falling now, so if ppn holds on for a few hours it should turn increasingly to sleet/snow but settling snow reserved for ground around 250

Dew points very marginal at the min temp come down a little though currently 1.6 dp 0.1
Very light snow here so would imagine if those heavier areas on radar make more progress over pennines we should see snow.
Getting closer... Not expecting settling snow mind lol Mainly hilly areas as seen so far over pennine and cumbria fells

No hope for me then! I'm not expecting much so whatever (if anything) I do get will be a nice bonus.
Hold that thought... Light sleet/snow here now

DRIZZLE here at the moment

Quick update, Tomorrow looks very uneventful for most of the NE... NY Moors and parts of County durham inland towards pennine areas will see some snow.
Thursdays event looks delayed and we wont see anything till overnight into friday with wintry showers following from the NE-EAST
Next week, less cold more of a SW-W'ly influence but downwelling will impact models by the weekend so expect some better runs for N blocking showing
