Its snowing...

The air temp is -0.6deg/c, the ground temp is reading -3.5deg/C and the cloud layer is -8.5deg/C so anything falling as snow should stick.
As for the radar its just all fragmented in the last ten minutes with Fife now covered by a big blob of sleety pish...its currently dry here so we'll just have to wait and see what comes.

Isn't the weather amazing...firstly lashed with rain...now blown to bits by the wind...late December clear skies but the temp is 8deg/C...its all wrong..!!!

Another wash-out, the temperature is around 10dec/C so not cold but it feels it...no sun forecast here till Tuesday.
Looking further ahead and before getting any hopes up remember we've seen dead cert easterlies flip with two days to go...so no toys out the pram please.
Also this might end up very cold rain for the lower levels.

I've been trying to keep away from the daft thread as the last time I looked in they were getting a bit tightly wound...its hilarious they fall for the same thing every year.
We're still too far away for a reliable forecast, this time next week should give a better idea...still it would be nice if it snowed.

Having a quick look around the charts and in the daft thread it would seem more cold for this side of the year is unlikely, its down to the high pressure thats going to form around France (Bartlett) and those can stick around for weeks...I still live in hope that one day I will see a white Christmas.

Great to see some snow pictures...
I was convinced I saw a snowflake the other day...but it could have been a brids feather blowing off the roof.

Hello again to everyone, its that time of the year again when we all go chasing the white stuff and laughing at the dafties on the suicide watch thread.
My hopes for for this year are we don't get a cold spell too soon as its been known to upset the snow God's in the sky who in turn give us nothing but mild damp pish for weeks on end.
Todays weather started off a bit chilly but has now been replaced with much milder temp's its currently 10.6 deg/C here with the overnight forecast to dip no lower than 9 deg/C.
Here's to a cold white winter...fingers crossed.

Thank foook for that.. the rain has arrived and the temps on its way down... now for the serious business of when is it gonna snaw???
Well according to the climate change emergency crisis lunatics its going to be so hot you will not see snow again.
Here's my snow forecast for this upcoming winter...expect snow to fall anytime from November 23 to late March into April 24, in fact I can 99% predict this will happen.

I'am not usually a summer poster unless we have big thunder storms but I find it Incredible that we are seeing winter weather patterns in summer, that past few weeks have been very nice but much cooler than usual, if the current pattern is anything to go by if this was Jan - Feb then we would have quite a bit of snow lying and bitterly cold along with it.
I've been looking on the net for some loony wailing on about climate change the cause of this but I wouldn't be surprised if its a lingering effect from the last SSW.

Funny old thing the weather...we have a wintry shower of hail.
Air temp +8.5deg/C
Ground temp +8.0 deg/C
Cloud temp -5.3deg/C
The Beeb and Met are showing double digits from Wednesady onwards with no night frosts...spring has sprung, it may turn out rather nice if the wind is light.

Out and about this morning...Kirkcaldy was showing a very pleasent 16deg/C on the motors temp gauge, returning home it didn't drop below 13deg/C.
That's it winter is done and dusted...roll on the summer I hope we have a nice one, but with the odd breakdown for thunder and lightning.
The central belt had a poor winter this year with hardly any snowfall, I think December 27th was the only day we had a few inches on the ground.
Following that a few days with a dusting which rapidly melted as quick as if fell...hmmm we must do better next year.

It looks like we will just have to wait and see what happens.
Out and about today and it didn't feel cold actually in the sunshine it was very pleasent, the motor temp was reading +9deg/C so after sunset the temperature will have to nose dive if we are to see any snow falling never mind lying.
The current conditions here...
Air temp +6.9deg/C
Ground temp +6.3deg/C
Cloud temp (high level cloud) -22.5deg/C
I would very much like to be proven wrong though..!!!

Great photo's everyone...Scotland truly is a beautiful place but when covered in snow its absolutely stunning.
Here we go again with the snow forecast...its all over the place the Beeb Met-Office and WX Charts are far from agreeing on anything, will we get a decent covering or won't we, then Monday on the Beeb the rain lashes in, but WX Charts shows a snow event on Monday followed by a rash of wintry showers..???
When I wake up tomorrow morning and its white...happy days.

The grass here is still whited over from yesterday evening, the roads are dry and its a stunning sunny morning...at least the sun's out.
So I take it the snow front didn't make it across the Forth last night after all, I hate to admit it but I saw that scenario on the ten day trend through the week and thought what rubbish but it ended up being spot on.
I looked at the Yorkshire thread as well...wow they got a nice pasting good for them, to think that was forecast for up here earlier in the week.
After that roller coaster of a week chasing snow I'd happily take a few weeks of lashing rain to wash all the salt away ready for some spring warmth.

Here's a few screen grabs from my trip to and from work today.
1 - Kelty not flake of snow landed overnight.
2 - What's this white stuff getting closer to Rosyth.
3 - There's always one.
4 - Kings Road in Rosyth...looks like some are stuck further up the road.
5 - Queens Ferry Road Rosyth looking rather icy as well.
6 - Even down at the Dockyard was white...very rare.

Up until this evening it looked like we were going to get some snow tomorrow, the Beeb showing the best chances.
Now though the Beeb is showing just a few hours of light snow...the Meto is showing a horrific zero, and WXCharts GFS has also downgraded for us, but switching to the WX Euro model its looking more hopeful.
