  1. That was a long read catching up on all the posts from today...and isn't it amazing to see the excitement a wee drop of snaw brings.

Its been steadily snowing for a good few hours but not much has accumulated I'd guess around an inch or so and its wet snow its already running of the cars windscreens...I'am not sure what to expect overnight a degree or two colder will swing it in the right direction so not to wake up to a slushy pish mess.

The ground is showing -1.2deg/C, cloud -2.1deg/C, air +0.1deg/C its been hovering around this all evening.

Storm what storm there is not a hint of wind outside in fact the snow is falling straight down.

  2. I just had a keek outside and its...snawing...that's a nice surprise as earlier on it was just very cold pishy rain.

I've not had much time for weather watching this last week or so but looking back the thread its good to see that some have had decent snow and again the pictures are excellent...here we seem to be on the fringes of any snow so far this winter 1" max I would say is all that's fallen its quite frustrating but some is better than none I suppose.

If I could find the Fife Snaw Shield this would be the result - https://external-preview.redd.it/FSOQBEHx4GN_ZNjBpsneYCpc1NrwZCKfZdz_tlq-iME.gif?format=mp4&s=5d82b9081e50c81e75a037f60fb6700e0eb4bd3e

    Current temperatures.

    Air Temp -0.1deg/C

    Ground Temp -0.2deg/C

Cloud Temp - -0.4deg/C...teetering on the edge of sleet/snow.

  3. What an interesting weather day...a bloody cold day, from an overnight low of -2.5deg/C it felt like it hovered around freezing point till late afternoon when the temps dropped like a stone, I measured the ground temperature about an hour after the sun went down it was -6.8deg/C the air temp bottomed out at -3.1 deg/C and has been slowly rising to -1.3deg/C now...no cloud to take a reading from today.

I've been watching the snow front advance all evening....the line of traffic cams down from Perth to Gleneagles to Dumblane are the ones to watch the Dunblane cam's are now showing snow the others not yet.

As ever great pictures today...I passed by Loch Leven this afternoon and it looked stunning (note to self keep a camera in the motor)

  4. Fab pictures everyone...its good to see how much joy a bit of the white stuff brings.

The temperature has been all over the place this evening...after a quick freeze it then started to thaw a bit and topped out at +2.3deg/C dropped back to +0.8deg/C and is now fluctuating up and down, there is a bit of cloud cover which is causing this but I'd never have thought it could change so rapidly.

The Beeb weather is showing a low of -4deg/C for around here it'll be interesting to see how low it gets.

  5. What’s everyone’s thoughts...will we get snow next week or will the Azores high pressure intensify and kill off anything cold.

I’ve a feeling the latter will win out, the last few winters have seen the Azores high pressure establish itself for what seemed like all winter with the jet to the north and the UK  stuck in mild wet and windy pish...I hope I’am wrong as the last thing I want to endure is four months of an extended Autumnal  weather pattern.

  6. The cloud is fast moving it now looks like its running from east to west, possibly to do with the convection of the thunder clouds, all of the action seems to be to the west from here there is a good 10sec gap from flash to bang well more of a rumble really no explosive loud bangs yet.

This is amazing its just about as good as a foot of snaw...
