  1. From the joys of the other day's snow we're back to the mild soaking wet shitey pish again, at 16:00hrs it was lashing with rain on my way home...that was the heaviest rain I've seen for a while the roads were awash with some big dub's for the car to splash through.

I poked my nose in the mad thread...I hope someone is keeping the sharp implements away from them..!!!

The Metoffice 10 day tend suggests there may be a bit of a cold coming our way but they are not too sure - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAQdAzZBLPQ&t=0s - strange they are showing runs from the ECMWF and GSF but not their own model runs

If this were to come off would this not dump a whole load of snow.

  2. I'am glad to see some at least had a covering of snow and for those who didn't I hope you enjoyed the pictures that were posted...I certailnly did.

It was a treat to drive to work today seeing everything covered in a white blanket of snow its a shame it didn't last most of it was gone by the time I got home...never even got to use my snaw shovel.

  3. Unless there is a dramatic change in Febuary / March I think we can chalk this winter up as another non event, the forecast brief cooler spell on Monday / Tuesday will be just that blink and you'll miss it.

Weird that there's not been many sunny cold days and frosty nights that I wouldn't mind one bit...but I'am fed up with this relentless dull mild damp pish..!!!

    This is just depressing...Snip1.thumb.jpg.65710c0df40ea877be0f840d031f573f.jpg

  4. Hmmm ten days away...chances of happening <10%...chance of flipping >90% you never know just for once it might happen, my snaw shovel is poised ready for action.

I found this site lots of chart info to look at - https://www.wxcharts.com/?panel=large&model=gfs,gfs,gfs,gfs&region=sco&chart=overview,winteroverview,accprecip,2mtemp&run=12&step=003&plottype=10&lat=51.500&lon=-0.250&skewtstep=0

Loving the pictures folks some cracking shots.

    Definitely agree with the later.

Might be worth having a quick squint at the Met Office 10 day trend. At this point, they dont share the MAD threads analysis.

I watched that as well, they are not saying too much as they have little to no confidence this far out.

At the moment everything is just another week away, then another week and so on...before we know it the winter months will be gone.

One decent fall of snow and I'll be happy...the snaw shovel is still in the hut unused so far this winter extended autumn.

  6. The wind picked up really quickly with hail bouncing of the windows...a rumble or two of thunder as well.

All of a sudden its calmed down...the weather is a strange beast indeed.

Is that a little bit of hope for cold I see over in the daft thread or just another one of their mad ramps that disintegrate along with the cold.

  7. What a wash out...well at least it'll keep the stoor doon.

I had peek over in the suicide watch thread and saw this, if this were a summer chart it would be roasting, incredible that there has been so much dominant high pressure to the south of the UK this winter it just keeps reforming, it wouldn't be so bad if it was a cold high pressure but those southern wind directions are looking like double figures again.

It would seem the models have real trouble with cold but mild predictions somehow turn out correct...some reprogramming of the Sinclair Spectrum Climate Model required I think.

  8. What a strange day temperature wise, when I got home from work the temp on the car showed 10deg, inside the garage the termometer showed 10deg, the road surface temp was 10deg and the cloud temp was also 10deg...I've never seen such consistant temperatures inside and outside before.

All this weird weather...I've a feeling we are going to be in for one hell of a pasting when the cold arrives.

  9. Temp topped out at 10deg/C today more mild damp pish...I pointed the thermometer at the clouds this evening 7deg/C with a ground temp of 8.5deg/C not even close to cold..!!!

If you have a spare few minutes have a watch of this video from Weatherbell over in the US its very interesting, all this unusual weather looks like its being caused by the same effects that's roasting Austraila, the US seems stuck at the moment as well they are normally in the freezer at this time of year.

Scroll down the page for the Saturday Summary - https://www.weatherbell.com/

Oh and I'am liking the pictures that's been posted...beautiful sunsets.

  10. Plain old day today and rather pleasant...but a bit stormy in here it would seem, winter has shown its face it would appear there are a few snowflakes about after all.

Apologies for posting about climate change I had no idea it wasn't allowed...what else isn't allowed for future reference.

  11. Is the global climate running away..???, are you saying its out of control heading for a disaster, what is the "normal" global climate is there records going back millions of years to compare to, do you know how long the climate cycles take from warm to cold and the effect the sun has on all this, there are countless factors that effect our global climate do we know for a fact that we know them all.

I do accept that all the co2 and methane thats being pumped out is an issue and to regulate these emissions would be a good idea but to claim a global emergency is bullshit, the earth biosphere has suffered far worse climate changes in its past and seems to be able to adapt very well.

As with a lot of other impending doom mongering its agenda driven and some even can show the statistics to justify their claims but as with all numbers statistics can be manipulated to show anything you like...right or wrong what is correct.

  12. This is more like it...a nice crisp day, it actually felt cold all day just like winter should.

Ground temp reading a nice solid -4.2deg/C at 21:30hrs.

On the Beeb news it reported that the new December max temperature of 18.7deg/C had been recorded on the 28th - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-50961612  - something called the Foehn Effect caused this unusual heat, interestingly the previous highest temp of 18.3deg/C was recorded way back in 1948 also in December...this got me curious to see that the previous and following years weather had been like...looks like they had a Greta Thunberg climate change emergency end of the world in two weeks crap back then too.

  13. Lovely day it’s been...so mild that I was outside polishing the car, the garage thermometer never dropped below 9.7deg/C all day, when the sun went down a little bit of cloud came over and just for fun pointed an infra red thermometer up there 5.6deg/C normally it shows way below freezing, the ground temperature read 7.9 deg/C, with cloud temps this warm we’ll not be seeing any of the white stuff any time soon.

  14. In the mid 80's I remember there was a very mild spell in Febuary so its not uncommon having these temps but it is unusual all the same, was it not last winter we had a stubborn Azores High Pressure feeding warm air across the Atlantic bringing us all that manky grey damp weather for what seemed like weeks, it took a bit of shifting then we got the cold at the tail end of the winter.

Fingers crossed that pattern doesn't repeat.

  15. Every now and again I have a look over in the Models thread truthfully I try to stay out of there as I’am not entirely sure what they are all on about, one thing I have noticed though is they don’t seem to know what they are on about either as 99% of their predictions turn out wrong and then there’s an on mass disappointment when a predicted snow filled easterly suddenly flips and becomes a mild wet south westerly...its their desperation for cold and they fall for it every time it’s hilarious.
