Observations Of Nature Through The Seasons.
Snipper replied to Jane Louise's topic in Space, Science & nature
Anyone noticed if they have colonies of Tree Bumblebees? First recorded in UK in 2001 and spreading fast. Have a gang of them taking up occupation of one of my blue tit boxes. Another under the roof tiles of the garage roof. https://bumblebeeconservation.org/images/uploads/Tree_bee_article_2015.pdf -
Observations Of Nature Through The Seasons.

My observations are - Garden looking good. The Blue tit babies have just vacated the nest box I made them . Got some bumble bees nesting in my garage roof under the tiles. Hadn't realised they nest as a group . You can hear the hum. Definitely not honey bees. Keep putting lady birds on my plants to get rid of greenfly. Slugs are a problem this year. Best thing is if you shoot blooming wood pigeons your vegetables aren't trashed . Very satisfying. Also rather tasty . Tomorrow I will complete my hedge hog nesting box. Followed by exciting hand weeding to get rid of those perennial weeds. Snip -
Too right. Why do people feel it it to be OK to drop their rubbish with impunity. Stronger controls by government needed? We all know what a crowd of wimps they are. Singapore seems somewhat ideal albeit somewhat dictorial. Chewing gum is banned. For those who can only function if chewing the cud can't you change your disgusting habit without continually gobbing onto the ground! How many Amercans can only function if they are chew like some old cow?

Fortunately some of us are prepared to do something about the problem. Although it really goes against the grain to clear up after other people.

Yes know where you are coming from.

Even our Indian friends apologise
-
Really yes. Ever been to India? There might be some rubbish/litter around a pub or local take away but generally cleared. It does not lie in drifts covering a whole town or city plus the countryside. Photo below taken at Cochin at one of their principal tourist locations. Whichever way you look it is the same. Short of using Photoshop rubbish is dominant in your photos.

Been to India and found it the filthiest place I have ever been to. Not sure why they can't be bothered. Not as if they are short of labour. I found it really off putting as did my fellow travellers. You would think they would wish to encourage tourism. s

Ok wrists slapped. Still find it strange that anyone wants cold weather now. Happy for it during the winter months but now other thing to do.
-
There is always a sad one. When are you moving to Siberia if you want cold? I want some warm weather as I want to grow more stuff than weeds.
-
Not sure why there is now the hunt for cold grotty weather. Surely it would be be nice to see some nice warm weather? Costing me a fortune to propagate plants to enjoy over the coming summer months . I am happy with cold weather at the appropriate time but I am not such a sado that needs a wet snowflake now. Surely anything now would be so brief that you might blink and miss it. The rest of ithe winter has been like that for most. Yes try and plot what is coming but the models have been more than anything rather misleading S

So if we are to learn anything from the model thread what should we conclude from this winter? Just wonder. -
What pain. Cold or very cold weather when my seedlings have just emerged.

First Direct Detection of Gravitational Waves to be Announced
Snipper replied to Yarmy's topic in Space, Science & nature
Rather misses the point I am afraid. Who was talking about transient celebrities? My brother, who has advanced cancer, was not encouraged by not seeing his doctor today. More important? -

Yes great there is a new discovery but does it require headline presentation on the national news? Many must be interested in the here and now. Can they have the operation they need, see a doctor etc. etc. -
Model Output Discussions 18z 31/01/2016
Snipper replied to phil nw.'s topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Out of interest do the models self learn basically correcting themselves in future scenarios? Or not as the case might be. -
I am slightly confused. Why is so much faith placed with the models when they are so un reliable for the most part? Wishful thinking.?

If this is the models thread why do so many ignor anything other than cold weather? Interested. -
Oh come on. It is only life. More important things to worry about. S
