  1. Darren Bett on BBC News evening forecast “it’s going to be a mild weekend Rita” Cue... his gleaming smile and over excited voice!! Well at least someone’s happy to be living in the mildest/ snowless country in Northern Europe
  2. stunning sunny day here today. Stayed lighter for longer as well.
  3. Models look poor for cold in the reliable, but at least it isn’t/hasn’t been stormy and wet. Nothing worse than having no cold with soaking wet Atlantic dross with boring gales and drenching rain. If it isn’t going to be cold = dry and useable over mild Atlantic crap anyday.
  4. That’s right @shotski Bold move claiming wind and rain dominance next week. Must be his mild loving soaking Atlantic weather mind taking over. No cold weather set in stone in the reliable of course, but even less likely a week of rain and wind as Darren mild Bett hopes.
  5. Anyone catch Darren Mild Bett on BBC news channel earlier this afternoon? Darren: “Let’s talk snow” newsreader: “snow for the UK, according to reports it’s coming” Darren: “no it isn’t - it’s in Central and Eastern Europe” *cue his snow videos of Austria and Estonia He then went on to blab about the omega block and how no snow is due here and that we need the orientation of the HP to change for the UK to get cold, claiming that Atlantic wind and rain will be back next week. Lets hope the mild warrior is proved wrong.
  6. Happy New Year folks Back from Montreal today, where temps were -8c by day and -15c by night with lots of snow Feels tropical here. I see the ‘hunt for cold’ thread is rinse & repeat from when I left in December. ‘Boom’ posts over day 10 charts Makes you realise how day 10 charts and Lala land model FI watching, is absolutely pointless otherwise we’d be in snow & cold nirvana by now.
  7. Hello everyone from here in Montreal, Canada. Temp currently -10c with snowcover here in the suburbs. Heavy snowfall forecast later tonight into tomorrow morning Quick glance at the models and no chance of a cold first week of January upon my return as hoped 2 weeks ago. UK cold hopes extended on an on by the looks of it. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and fingers crossed for UK snow and cold before February.
  8. MAD thread up & alive again with the GFS 12s giving an easterly at day 13 Normal ‘slit wrists’ due to resume within 6-12hrs time until the next Day10+ Chart shows cold. Then back to ‘slit writs’ until the next cold D10 chart greets. You get the idea
  9. This time next week we’ll all be tucking in to a few glasses of wine and gammon. Well I will anyway Flying out to Montreal Friday for Christmas and the new year for a couple of weeks to see the family Snow lying on the ground there with temps around -4c by day and -12c by night. Snow and cold fix guaranteed. Hopefully return home to deep cold and easterly winds Snow when away is all good, but can’t beat it falling outside your own home.
  10. Yet more Atlantic gunk falling outside. Rain, rain and more rain. @Wimbledon88 you must be in your element? 2 days minimum of dry weather and you are bored.
  11. But that’s on Netweather - Joe public don’t read this website. I was pointing out the media hype from Meto/ BBC forecasting to the nation. Whilst parts of the country had localised freezing rain and parts of Scotland have had a covering of 1-2cm on low ground it was way off of anything BBC breakfast were shouting about this morning. According to Meto/BBC yesterday low levels northern England and Scotland should be under 5-15cm of snow by now and that isn’t the case, regardless what net weather forums say.
  12. Even reading the Scotland regional it’s 1cm of snow at best at low levels ‘groundbreaking’ Unless northern England gets 5cm at height and low levels in Scotland get up to 10cm (very unlikely) the met office/ BBC well over egged this spell with their warnings & media hype. Maybe they got carried away with the first potential snow of the season. Who knows.
  13. I’m fairly surprised to see in the ‘far north of & North East of England’ forum, some only reporting freezing rain/sleet at best with no snow. Was expecting to see at least pictures of a 1 to 2 inch covering of snow given the info from Meto/BBC past couple of days. No wonder the Dunstable Downs didn’t even see sleet fall today.
  14. Muddy old dog walk beckons tomorrow. Hammering down here since 2pm. Gutter overflowing out back. The dry seasonal cold weather this week, was a welcome relief from the previous weeks of mild deluge at least.
  15. With temps hovering around 2.5/3c here no chance other than cold rain falling once that ppn hits. Perfect excuse to stay at home and binge Netflix, on a cold wet Saturday afternoon.
  16. What? Who said anything about changing? @Shaftesbury Snow Just mentioned opinion, end of January being better chance of cold. Was merely pointing out that the opinion gains strength 17 days on, seen as we are 2/3 weeks from January with no cold in reliable sight.
  17. 17 days on and your opinion looks to be gathering strength Transient snow for most northern areas of England and Scotland Saturday before temps rocket back up to close double figures, but apart from that no real cold in the reliable, but perhaps January can deliver, the beginning rather than the end
  18. Nice and seasonal feel today. Cold and dry and with that wind having a bite to it. If it isn’t going to snow, give me this kind of weather any day over Atlantic, mild wet crap.
  19. Look east forecast just now: ‘Dry and cold up until Saturday- heavy rain Saturday night with temps back up to double figures thereafter’ Hoping January delivers the cold & snow
  20. I think it’s best to stick to Meto forecasts or TV forecasts if it frustrates you that much. The ‘hunt for cold thread’ is a daily mixture of emotions with ups and downs, one could call it fairly entertaining. They are doing what makes them happy, their hobby - each to their own. They enjoy the ride and I have learnt to sit back and enjoy the ride for entertainment purposes when one day it shows blizzards and two days later it’s all but vanished. A crazy bunch but with level headed knowledgeable members offering different opinions it makes a good read. Stick with joe public on time reliable weather forecasts and dip into ‘hunt for cold’ on possible outcomes without judgement and you’ll be just fine.
  21. Watching Look east weather forecast just now as I did yesterday. Still no ‘S’ word mentioned - so the wait continues. Milder and Atlantic driven weather by the weekend, however at least no major rainfall according to them, so a chance for a short lived dry out from the Atlantic bore fest, before the Atlantic muck sets in next week.
  22. Just watched Look East forecast for the week. Mainly dry week ahead a feeling much more seasonal with temps around 5c by Friday before the Atlantic fed air returns by Saturday and temperatures back up to 9c with possible rain showers about. Chance for a little ground dry out at least from the recent weeks of soaking.
  23. Despite the slight excitement over on ‘hunt for cold thread’ regarding UKMO latest run. Just watched Countryfile week ahead with Schaffer’s. Predominately dry week coming up with temps creeping down to 5c-6c - no rain at least with a cool south easterly wind setting in holding off the Atlantic muck. Atlantic muck due thereafter though with Him confirming more unsettled weather to come post weekend from Atlantic. Oh joy - more wind and rain. I’m still in the opinion we’ll see snow falling in our region in 2019 if at all. *remembering that epic snowfall this time last year on 10th December - 5 inches and a total white out that spread further south than forecast. Great pre crimbo weather
  24. Wishing you all the best for that sprain. Its painful, went through it last year after a game of football. I know, when I was reading posts this summer crying for rain, I always said it was balance out - Days upon days of rain and it’s only 8th December. Never understood those wishing for rain during a dry spell in one of the wettest countries in Europe.
