Went out without my coat for the first time this year today. Lovely in the sun. Sydney has no doubt been roasting his chestnuts by the open fire in the sky.
If our Eastely had come 2 weeks earlier we'd have seen similar. Unfortunately the real cold has just retreated too far east for this set up to tap into it.
Which has more or less become the favoured option. The Bay of Biscay is going to get the brunt of it. The Channel Islands getting 70mph gusts. 50-60mph along the South Coast. I don't want to do my bike ride to work in it, but it's nothing special!
It's all relative, isn't it. Chuck an April with UK levels of of rain at a desert nation and they would struggle. Treat the Polar regions to a UK Summer... etc. It IS extreme for us no matter how much of a pasting Moscow gets
it's -2c out there at the moment. Hasn't been above freezing all day.
A yellow warning for ice is in place from 4am tomorrow with a 'trivial' amount of rain or snow falling on ice cold surfaces.
