on Reddit I saw a lot of people in Calgary/Edmonton etc celebrating the lack of snow.
I doubt that many in the Winter sport/leisure industry would agree. Cost them millions.

When I went to Lillehammer in February people were driving around normally and the trains were running, like a damp winter day in the UK.
And that is because they not are Island nation in the Atlantic! They are geared up fiscally to operate in snow and ice every year we are not for obvious reasons. Try living in a Norwegian house in temps over 30c, its not good, they aren't designed for heat. Of course we are going to get more rain now, we are surrounded by a massive heating volume of water. Those who had this idea we would have a hot Southern France or Northern Spanish climate are wrong, very wrong.

SunnyG But its still a chase, so why and i hark back to your original post, why get mods involved? Each chase is different, yours is for heat but i get that, everyone has their own preference though.

We had a heatwave last September didn't we? So there's way more probability of heat after August that there is of snow after February
But you allude to the fact there is still a probability though....or March 2018 was a lovely dream then?

Just out of curiosity, when are the mod people gonna stop chasing that cold spell? Do they have a cut off time or do they go on indefinitely
Just like they do in late August for those seeking heat then......

Metwatch Sorry disagree totally, i've seen the state of the land, so much arable is will be implantable. Vineyards are a irrelevance to be honest, crop production will be. We need frost just as much as dry weather in February, your quoting April, why? I'm referring to now and next 6 weeks

erm mild and sunny would dry it up. Freezing water would just cause lots of accidents everywhere.
Its the land i'm talking about!! It needs the frost desperately with dry weather. Its nothing to do with drying up the land its the braking up of the soil that frost does that will be needed.Drying will only make the issue worse without frost

East Lancs Rain We certainly need a Beast from the East. Its not looking good, i do over a thousand miles a week and the state of the ground is shocking everywhere, mild weather is the last thing we need, frost is needed and dry conditions

Whether it’s cold or mild doesn’t really matter, we just need prolonged dry spell.
We need the cold desperately, ask any arable farmer, the water logged fields need a good freeze to help with the breaking up of the clag most are faced with, dry yes needed but not mild. Nature also needs the reset of the weather, this mild Winter is detrimental, not a positive.

SunSean I travel a lot and i mean a lot, one thing that is standing out by a country mile now is the waterlogged countryside, fields just can't take any more and i mean any. We need a dry spell now desperately , farmers are going to be in big trouble if not.

Utterly dreading this upcoming summer...got a bad bad feeling it is going to be awful temp and humidity wise. Not in a good place at the moment after this none winter again, climate change? How many times could you see your breath in the morning this winter?...very very few that's the answer

East Lancs Rain You missed the phrase " at this time of year". That was the key point.
A cold dryer Spring would be very welcome.

What a awful awful day, so mild and humid, utterly repulsive at this time of year. Uncomfortable where i was for working, a very sad sign of things to come. Only hope is a lovely cold spring. That would be fantastic

One can only hope now for a colder than average Spring. This winter has been a total non event for most, the odd day or two at best. Can you think if that was the same in Summer? The volume of moaning would be beyond belief!!. Anybody who says cold loving folk moan more about a lack of their preference than warm loving folk is sadly so so wrong.
Here's to a lovely cold Spring, plenty of time for heat in the summer months, and Autumn months...as like last year.

Loved a proper Winters day at last, though i did a few odd looks walking to sites in the snow in shorts, some folk are so odd.....
