I know I'm 18 pages late but thanks OON for bringing the NW thread back. It's nice to see so many familiar names. Just come in from work after a morning of sunshine and darkness and many hail showers. Going out with the dogs now and it's trying to hail again. Surely all this augers well for some snow....?

jpwild, Fred the Weather (shudder!) is showing some lovely photos of the snow in Buxton on Granada News. Lucky you, it's raining here!

Backtrack, we're having another really heavy hail shower again here at the moment. The sky is really black but we can see the edge of it with the sun behind. It's heading your way I reckon.

We're having a small hail shower at the moment after a morning of sun, rain, hail and rainbows! Temp at airport currently 6 degrees with light rain showers forecast. Not much to look forward to today, snow wise.

Hello all, nice to see the thread back! According to the Countryfile weather forecast for tonight, the snow showers are coming right over south Liverpool tonight so maybe, Backtrack you need to come this side of the Bridge! I know it won't settle but it will be nice to see it falling and put us in the Christmas mood! :smilz38:

I've been having a look at the Scotland thread and notice this post from Lomond Snowstorm: NAE suggests Ayrshire in the firing line tomorrow night http://expertcharts....120506_0312.gif and Merseyside into Monday rush hour too - who'da thunk it? Any other opinions on that chart? I know it looks promising but is it snow for me or just sleet? Really pleased for you guys in Cumbria. Enjoy!

I'm here too but I've just been lurking, waiting for the winter regional thread. I think I've been spoiled the last two years for snow so I'n not expecting to be lucky a third time... unless someone here can tell me otherwise! Is Backtrack about? He ALWAYS promises snow!

At half 4 this afternoon we were walking along the shore in Hale with our coats off in the sun!!! Now we've just got drizzle after the same downpour as you! I love contrary days.....

Hope you are okay Extreme! I'm glad for those of you in Cumbria and Yorkshire who've finally got some snow. Guess I'm just being greedy! We've nearly reached the point I promised Backtrack I'd report in at - 3 inches............... ..............3 inches of flood waters!!!! Sleet, sleet, sleet!! I'm not going to look at any charts for a few days. I won't be watching the forecasts which at the moment are leaning towards the white stuff for us. And I will NOT get excited the next time the so called 'snow' is 'definitely' on it's way..... Goodnight all!

Snowing in south Liverpool for about an hour and starting to settle. Medium sized flakes but many of them!

Backtrack - the GFS shows yellow and green over us, but I always look for red for snow. What do I need to look for in future? Do I need to compare with other charts?

Interitus, where are you? Is it snowing there too?

FACTOR 3!!! Has been snowing lightly here in south Liverpool for about an hour and is getting heavier now, showing signs of sticking! I was expecting sleet and rain so I'm made up! Is it really going to carry on until 6 am tomorrow.....?

It's a shame when it goes that quickly. I do love seeing it fall though so it will be nice to see it throughout the day. Fingers crossed for a nice fall for all of us in one go!

Thanks for the lovely photos! I'm really pleased for those of you who are having your best snowfall of the winter - we were so lucky in January so it's your turn now! The snow here has gone but it did look good this morning and caught quite a few people out. Looking at the last GFS we only have a low chance of more snow before Wednesday.

Same here! Woke up to a nice covering of about 2.5/3 cm which melted whle I was in Church!!! There's patches in the shady parts but it's going fast. Sky is grey and looks like rain....

I'm here but I'm desperately trying not to get too excited about this! Pity Backtrack isn't online - he gets very excited at a whiff of snow!!! I am still hoping the snow is heading my way tonight but until it arrives..... I'm still not convinced I'm going to get anything significant, not that I'm an expert or anything, but I do know that things seem to change from hour to hour and I think I'm safer nowcasting! Can't promise I'll be popping in at 3 am to report any snow fall though!!! Made up to hear Cumbria is getting snow and hope it continues! Ah Stephen, just what I wanted to hear! I look forward to seeing my snow cover in the morning! And I'm not even considering the rapid thaw.......

We've had a mainly sunny day here with beautiful blue skies. It is cooling off now and I've still got my fingers crossed for some snow tonight although after reading the Model Ouput thread, I'm more confused than ever..... Glad to hear some of you have got/are getting some snow already and fingers crossed for the rest of us!

I'm trying not to get excited AGAIN as we've had a few disappointments lately and it seems that it has been too difficult to forecast for certain when the snow is coming. However, I've just seen the forecast on BBC News which actually has snow over South Liverpool overnight tonight.... they don't normally do that unless they're certain and I see you've mentioned it too! So next week - where, when, how much???? :lol:

My sister in law rang from the middle of Chester this afternoon and said they were having snow showers with huge flakes but nothing was sticking. We've only had rain here. :-(

It's raining here in south Liverpool - and snowing at the same time. It's not sleet though. It's raining rain with the odd big snow flake in..... really weird.....

Back from our walk completely dry! Can't take all this excitement followed by nothing - I'm off to lie down in a darkened room for a while....... :lol:
