  1. Thanks Backtrack - I hope you're right! We'll be out in it, whatever it's doing, in about two hours so fingers crossed it's white and fluffy 'rain'....
  2. I don't like the look of that split either.... it's heading my way! Edit: BBC North West weather has just shown mainly rain over south Liverpool....
  3. I could see that cloud burst, Backtrack from Speke! It stayed away from us though, it's sunny and bright here!
  4. LOL! I might have exaggerated a little! The sun is shining here too!
  5. Just had about 23 flakes in the back garden but that's about it!!! Would be a nice surprise to get some snow as not expecting it today in south Liverpool.
  6. Just had a look at the GFS 18z and it looks like most of our North West area is heading for snow on Monday afternoon. Being a newby here I can't be certain that I'm reading the right chart in the right way <_< so how does it look to the rest of you?
  7. It's good to hear all your different opinions and updates. I thought it was just going to be Backtrack and me today! Although I'd rather have snow next week, dry, frosty days with sunshine are a good second.
  8. What are you guys thinking of the models today? Any major changes in our direction?
  9. If the GFS is being optimistic for our area, and the ECM pessimistic, and the forecasts actually turn out to be somewhere in the middle.... ....will the North West get snow?????
  10. Thanks CS. I had a quick look at the MOD too and they seem to think dahn sarf will get the snow.... For today, I'll just admire the GFS!!
  11. CS, are you looking at next Mon/Tues/Wed's GFS charts? I'm still learning about them and I know there's been doubts here about their accuracy recently but do you think they are reliable? They do make next week look exciting!
  12. We've had the big flakes here too but it's turned to rain now.... still, it was lovely while it lasted!
  13. Getting light snow in Speke, South Liverpool.....
  14. I hope so Mr Data. As Chris said we were spoiled in January! I did enjoy the graupel though at the weekend even though it washed away Sunday. I don't understand why my colleagues prefer grey and wet days instead of bright, white days! It's rained all day here off and one and we really need our wellies in the fields and on the shore to walk the dogs. (Counsellor Troi..... I wish!!! )
  15. Same here in Speke but every forecast I look tonight at has something different for tomorrow! Snow all day OR scattered sleet showers OR some in night but nothing in day OR snow only on higher ground.... As I wasn't expecting anything yesterday or today and had a pleasant surprise, I am totally confused as to what to expect now! Has this been one of the hardest winters to predict?
  16. We had the same here about half 11 last night. It's melting where the sun hits it now but it's a beautiful sunny, crisp and freezing cold winter's day. Our NetWeather forecast shows a 70% chance of snow here for most of tomorrow.... fingers crossed!
  17. We're getting some nice snow showers here interspersed by blue skies and sunshine! I don't think it's going to amount to anything on the ground but it is lovely to see!
  18. We had a very light snow flurry here in the South Liverpool about half an hour ago. Wasn't expecting to see that today! It only lasted about 10 minutes and although the sky is black to the south of me now (Ellesmere Port), the sun is shining!
  19. I hope you're right Les - I'm sick of these misty, grey, nondescript days. Over the weeked the NetWeather forecast for today showed a slim chance of snow showers but it's back to 0% now. It certainly feels colder today so I hope that northerly you're talking about delivers!
  20. Did someone mention snow???? What parts of our region does it look likely to be crossing?
  21. Spurry, do you think that's it for winter now then, staying this mild for the next few months until spring? I thought the predictions were for a cold, harsh winter but I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable as some here and may have got the wrong end of the stick. I'd be disappointed not to get some more snow out of winter though instead of these boring, grey, wet days.
  22. All our snow has gone from here now, washed away by yesterday's drizzle and higher temperatures. Has anyone seen confirmation of another cold snap yet?
  23. Thanks Paul! I was filling up here, reading all the goodbye messages.... And I'm still hopeful of more snow this winter!
  24. I have to say I have enjoyed this forum board too this year, reading all the comments from across the North West, the anticipation, the disappointments then the joy when we finally got snow! The photos brought it all to life. Thank you to those of you who are experts for your patience with us amateurs! I've learned a lot! Here's to the next 'cold spell'!
  25. We thought we saw a gritter this morning out of the office window..... but it was a bin lorry - almost as rare but not quite!
