100%. I'm probably slightly obsessed with seeing milder temps and i'm not a huge fan of snow or very cold temps. But the weather will do what ever it will do, but trying telling that to the 'mad' thread

And, lest we ever forget, 1947's snowy weather didn't set in until late January. . . But I'm told there's plenty of 'deep cold' waiting to pounce!
You must be spending too much time in the ‘mad’ thread!

Possibly! But last year didn't have extreme upper air temperatures and we got a real whollop. I think I have some pictures uploaded of last year. It was really magical. I like the cold so even if it doesn't snow here, I'll be happy for anyone who does get snow - but I think we'll see at least a bit of something.
i remember Lodon having snow around the 12th December but that was it. Was gone by the weekend.

Looking good to me so far today. I never pay attention to anything beyond day ten, no matter the time of year. I’m happy to see the low trending south as it will probably extend the cold spell, and fears of it being bone dry I feel will be disproved by instability. It’s such a treat to see two cold openers to December in a row! Bring it on and hopefully the winter is as cold as possible and no spring like muck until March.
In London it will rain.

We don't know who everybody is, it would not surprise me one bit if some of them are media, net weather does get quotes a few times in papers.
I can quite believe it!

It always amazes me this time of the year when the MOD page goes ape. Sometimes 30+ new pages of posts in one day. In the end, it could all be for a bit of cold rain? Wonder if there is someone who reads through all 30 pages! Surely it would be a mild form of torture as you would never get to the end haha.
I find myself drawn to that page just to read the madness!

Those who hate the cold are actually very fortunate these days as the general pattern for our climate consists of above average temperatures. Proper cold winters nowadays (pre mid 1980s) are rare. If the temps being forecast for this weekend are cold, then I am kind of curious to see how long they'd cope with an old school British winter. You can also forget about double glazing and central heating.
I don't at all mean for that to come across as guiltripping in any way as we are all different, I am just curious.
Likewise, it would be equally as interesting to see how long those who hate the heat would manage in a proper hot summer.
I don't hate the cold, i just prefer a milder winter. Snow is usually a pain in the weeble especially if i have to commute or the schools close so always happy to have a snow free winter. If it gets cold as it will do probably off and on until feb/mar then so be it.
I'm still baffled with the folks that post in the 'mad' thread. People being genuinely excited and having butterflies in the tummy when models are published. They are almost as bad as the media with their constant will it or wont it. People asking what the model output is for March

The bickering, the toy throwing and great input from the knowledgeable contributors make it compulsive viewing.
Sad at times as the weather will do what it wants to do and no amount of fancy graphs and charts will ever change that. But whatever gets you through the winter

Probably unsettled through the month of December. Some short cold spells. Much the same for early next year.
The ‘mad’ thread will tell you something else with chart after chart after chart..

You should know by now this thread will continue to guess what’s going to happen in 3-4 months time! Basically it might be cold it might not be

Now, if only this could last all the way up to spring...
Now that would be great! Now i feel like one of the 'snow' chasers in the Mod thread

Didn't have the high winds down here as forecast. Is it a bit gusty at times but was expecting something a bit more exciting!

Bit late this year but here we go!
From GB News
A strengthening Polar Vortex reportedly showing signs of possible collapse similar to the 2018 Beast from the East could drive months of snowfall.
