The feline from the east and just a dusting from yesterday looking like we will miss out in this cold spell once more. Local forecast shows nothing of note after today.
Actually we've had more flurries than forecast. I'm now just getting fed up with cloud which is keeping the temps up. If ain't going to snow properly let us freeze instead.
Well with the GFS ready to push double figure temps into South Yorkshire later on Sunday just a two days to get a full days cover in for winter and a couple more for March. The batch of snow showers popping into view ont he radar should hit north and west Yorkshire nicely as it heads south west how much of east South Yorkshire gets will depend on how wide the system is. Radar watching should tell us soon.
temps minus -1.5C gone up a bit however as you can see from my webcam their isn't a lot of Snow around here http://www.sheffieldweather.net:82/en/mjpgmain.asp
GFS shifted northwards slightly so Sheffield on the edge of things tomorrow. Probably start with light snow which turn to showery as the day goes on. Not expecting a great amount from it say 1cm to 2cm.
The snow is containing a lot of pollution my car windscreen was filthy when I got to the car. Probably explains why the stuff was melting even with temps below zero.
Just had some icing sugar snow which brought temps down to -1.2C
Sunny spells and light flurries with isolate d heavier snow showers leaving a partial dusting
Max temp 1.2C now -0.8C, Barometer 1037mb falling, Wind F3 ENE, Rainfall trace
GFS bullish as per normal bringing a slow thaw Friday night into Saturday may bring some freezing rain to the mix as well. UKMO keeps us in the cold air so more snow. So the fi starts around T96 hopefully ECM follows the UKMO.
Another nice day out in the sun quiet pleasant. Cold again in the shade but temps higher than suggested
Temp 3.6C, Barometer 1034mb steady, Wind F3 ESE, rainfall Nil
There's no gaurentee that the feature will even develop yet so I would take the forecast each day and then look forward to Friday. Just thinking March may possible match the other winter months temperature wise. Certainly looking that it will beat all the three winter months for snow although that isn't hard. One day of snow cover would do it.
Sadly a warm up is not far outside the reliable time frame so it looks like a blink and you've missed severe cold spell. Good model agreement from around T144. So will we a get the first day of lying snow. Not managed this winter yet so this week is the last chance.
Like the old days. GFS forgets the idea of the first low giving a return to spring but does with the next low. Thankfully lala land. Today a beautiful day warmer than expected although the cloud last night stopped the temps from falling. Tonight no problem so should be a good air frost.
Much warmer day than I expected and quite pleasant in the sun int he shade and breeze a different matter. Sunny all day and temperatures now dropping very rapidly
Max temp 5.6C now 4.1C, Barometer 1028mb steady, Wind F3 ESE, Rainfall Nil
Local forecast only showing proper snow for Friday light snow Monday to Wednesday. Briefly showed more organized Snow Tuesday lunchtime but now removed it. As ever wait and see. Today is showing how powerful the sun is. Nice and warm in the sun cold in the shade and breeze. This should lead to nice convection over the north sea. Hopefully won't see any weird behavior of the snow like melting when it's below zero. The only reason I can think of why that happened is that the snow was heavily polluted lowering the melting point. Any snow that falls should be dry and easy to shift Fridays may have a higher water content so will harder to shift.
