  1. yes, sorry to see Alex will no longer be doing the BBC broadcasts, always liked his style of presenting.
  2. No I would not, really hope that all on the forum get a little bit of what they want, what ever comes our way. Anything remotely like a good old fashioned late Autumn/ winter period should cover all the bases I think.
  3. No moans from me about this October, unexpected yes but very enjoyable. No horrible westerly flow bringing rain day after day, going out for long walks seeing all the colour changes as Autumn progresses in dry conditions has been fantastic this year. First decent fog day yesterday more to come over the next month, still waiting for my first ground frost but plenty of time for that.
  4. I am quietly confident that Stafford will see something other than damp and soggy this winter season
  5. How about we find some way to stop it going any further south than Jct 14 M6, by the way a new work colleague from down south says any body living north of Birmingham is a Northerner, so welcome to the club
  6. will this winter be like 62/63, god I hope not. I live with in extremely easy walking distance of work and have no wish to spend my winter doing 16 hour shifts just because some half wit cant walk 5 miles to work. It's cold and I can't remember how to use my legs BOO HOO HOO ETC, ETC. I keep being asked to give them my mobile No, ERRRRR I don't have one sorry
  7. Alaska still has a way to go I see. Still at least we have not lost any of the snow cover in eastern Russia. Mods is beginning to heat up, I have my tin hat readyor should I upgrade to a steel one
  8. Oh i think he shouldit makes it more fun that way It brings out the inner child in most even if they won't admit it
  9. 8.2 currently with plenty of rain showers some of them heavy coming in from the S. From my point of view the worst yet for October, 1-14 were so pleasant I kind of hoped it would continue, fingers crossed it will return to that.
  10. grey, overcast, damp 9.4. wind 4mph Time for bed said Zebedee after a long night shift
  11. couldn't agree more. should be on everyone's top ten bucket list. plus you get to see the MOST amazing light show that nature has in her locker
  12. Don't know about nuts but does have the ground work for a good sci-fi novel set in some post apocalyptic world. -40 is ok if you have the gear but even the most up to date building regs in the UK don't cut the mustard for those temps. I think my wife would force me at gun point to head for southern Italy. Spent many a happy time in the Arctic and on the Greenland ice caps but alas can't get my beloved to go for winter hols in the Alps or Scandi anywhere at anytime.
  13. An overall drier than usual winter with hard frosts would be ok for me. Of course we would then have to put up with Express headlines of Stand pipes and water bowsers at the ready after winter drought
  14. Went for a lovely walk yesterday evening between 18:30 - 20:00, better than staying in and watching the tat on TV. This morning awoke to stunning blue sky and bright sunlight temp just hovering at 9deg will take as many days like this as I can get. Much prefer the light levels at this time of year due to the lower angle of the sun.
  15. I'm a bit late reporting on last evenings storm but better late than never. Storm started at 1705 with loss of light and boy did it go dark. Rain started at 1715 and finished at 1850, total rainfall was 41mm for this 95min period. I normally stand under the veranda and watch the storms but not this one, stayed indoors, way to many strikes closest was about 300ft to the west of my house. The noise levels that the storm produced was the loudest I've ever heard. Trees in full leaf took a battering from the gusts and most of the lanes in the area became no go areas. It was awesome but also dangerous for any caught outside.
  16. Just totalled the rain fall from 6am Friday until 6pm Saturday 37mm. so not as bad as I expected. Wind has been moderate through out so no issues to note on that score. Glad to see the heat for next week starting to drop a little as I have problems dealing with it once it gets above 25c
  17. Nearly time to go homethe weather over night has been anything but summery all windows and vents shut, fleece did'nt come off my back once, outside is just dull and dank
  18. I'm hoping for a decent dry and clear September, don't want to think about October as it'll probally be a wash out knowing my luck.
  19. well got up at 6am and expected to see a small amount but alas nothing.
  20. My 252 plus your 104 would be more to my liking if i'm honest Went for that walk, temps far too high for it to last long though. Wind and rain this morning so i'll get my airbrush out and do some painting
  21. Had about 1.5 cm here, but still has managed to bring traffic to a stand still in some areas, lots of bumps. People being impatient pulling out of side roads etc. Not at work today so I think i'll leave the car at home and go try out my new boots,
