weatherobsuk Ah shame you didn't venture a few miles East of Benson to either Cholsey hill or Kingstanding hill as they're the highest points round here. We really got going after 4with a light show before the thunder and rain arrived. Round 2 arrived about 6am with one of the loudest bangs I've ever heard- turns out a house in Wallingford was hit and badly damaged. Luckily nobody got hurt!

Not the best. View to my SE as the lightning looks as though it's reflecting off surfaces

Woke up at 4am...ironically by a man with a torch walking down the street! Frequent lightning for over 30 mins, then thunder followed. Quietened down about 5.30 to resume again at 6am with an almighty bang. Seems a house in town was badly hit, tho fortunately no casualties

Eagle Eye What about that one that's sprung up in the channel? Surely that's heading for you?

Looks like some kind of organisation happening west of Swindon with cells forming on the Eastern flank of the rain band

Still very calm here. Grey and cooler as the rain passes through

Biggin Yep . They've been getting quite the show all afternoon!

weatherobsuk The A34 also crosses the ridgeway, so there are really good 360 views at several spots. Good luck!

Ben Sainsbury Looks fairly heavy. It does feel primed out. Very still and oppressive. Something, somewhere is brewing!

Heavy rain moving in ahead of potential action to CS England this afternoon. Might scupper any chances of action in this area

weatherobsuk If it starts to correct westwards, the Ridgeway could be a very good bet

It's completely still here. Mahoosive convective rain drops, but not a breath of wind. Still, who knows what might happen if a squall line forms

We had stronger gusts than Sunday, but for a shorter period of time. Hope everyone is safe and we're set for a boring period of weather!
Max gust 56mph. No obvious damage, thankfully despite the direction of the wind. WSW usually wins the battle with my fence

Much, much preferred last week's cold crisp weather. This mud is pants

Purplepixii As the elevated action moved away, we had a lull of about 30 mins or so before a mahoosive strike woke up the entire neighbourhood (radius about 5 miles?) hitting a local house. It's a possibility
