  1. That's the nature of thunderstorms unless we get a massive mcs! We had a storm here last summer that caused flash flooding here and our local Waitrose got a direct hit, but ten miles ago they just got a thundery shower. Making a good storm is like making a magic potion. You can chuck ingredients in, but only the right combination will do the trick.Despite the drizzle temps are on the rise here, so some energy is around, but whether everything comes together at he right time is anyone's (educated) guess. It's why we love storm chasing!
  2. My beautiful blue skies are now filling with AcCas. Maybe there is some potential after all
  3. Temps on the rise here. Not a cloud in sight and the air feels dry. Doesn't feel in the slightest that we could get a storm in the next 24 hours. It's an absoluely beautiful day for a bit of work in the garden!
  4. We're not exactly storm central round here are we? Got a belter last year which resulted in Waitrose in Wallingford getting a direct hit, but since then very little to speak of
  5. Think it's going to be a bust for CS England. It's become increasingly fresh with a strong SW breeze. I'll enjoy looking at all your pictures though!
  6. Apologies if this has already been posted. Footage from the Plymouth cell last night
  7. My daughter lives in Plymouth and loves a good storm, but she sent me a text at 1am to say she was terrified, so must have been pretty spectacular
  8. My daughter texted me from Plymouth at about 1am to say it was pretty scary stuff and she loves a good storm.
  9. Had a short lived downpour and a couple of big booms. Sky is an incredible orange colour thuogh. I'm off to the gym shortly so kets hope round 2 doesn't kick off til I get there. (quite happy to get soaked on way back though!)
  10. Can't see it yet.But will be delighted to be proved wrong. Again!
  11. I'm pretty convinced we'll import nothing tonight. The channe; storm shield is too strong
  12. The pyrenees seem to be a sweet spot this time of year. I had a very bumpy ride across the top of some very bumpy stacks on my way back from Barca earlier this week. Sadly too high to see any action
  13. We should all know by now, the capricious nature of storms is what makes them equally attractive, yet frustrating. Predicting storms 24 h out let alone this far out is nigh on impossible
  14. Temperature dropped a whacking 6 degrees after that cloudburst!
  15. Had a lot of convection today which came to nothing. Then in the last half hour an innocent looking shower has evolved into a massive downpour here. First decent rainfall in ages
  16. Band of hevy rain has passed through here and the sun is now out with a fair amount of warmth. Towers shooting up everywhere!
  17. Looked promising stormwise for a while in my neck of the woods, but now it's just a mess of disorganised patchy showers.
  18. Meanwhile in France..a severe thunderstorm alert was issued for the Toulouse area earlier
  19. The heavier showers are staying west of me or else dying before they get here!Never mind, I'm off to Barcelon next week where my chances are a lot higher!
  20. Heavy showers developing in a line roughly stretching from Brighton to Oxford (is it a CZ??) with patchy more general rain following behind. The M4 seems to be doing a good job of taming them though. Think we're just going to have a damp, sticky night here. Good luck chasers!
  21. Humidity steadily climbing here and winds now variable but light.Very dark to my south
