  1. Not got above -1.7C here today with the freezing fog. I love days like this, feels proper wintery. Won't last though as winds pick up later ahead of the band of rain/snow.
  2. I shouldn't really grumble at all considering we've had a few coverings of snow already this Winter but it would be nice to have a significant fall, around 15cm would do me. Best we've had so far is 5cm at the end of December. Still plenty of time yet though.
  3. It's definitely cold enough here. It's actually dropped throughout today and not risen, just a touch above freezing right now. But we've lost the intensity of the precipitation that we had first thing this morning when it was a bit milder.
  4. Non event here. Just a bit of sleet so far. It's just not been heavy enough for evaporative cooling to kick in.
  5. Currently 6C at Manchester airport. But 3.1C here just shows that being further east and closer to the colder air is helping. Hope this bodes well for tomorrow.
  6. Early March wasn't it? Good event that was. Easily better than anything that fell in the previous winter. Had about 5 inches here.
  7. Might get a bit of back edge sleet here tomorrow. Oh the joys haha. I reckon it's looking better than this for those of you above 200m+ though.
  8. Can't see there being any snow here tomorrow - just too far south on this occasion it would seem. More of a chance across east Cumbria though. Places like Penrith could be in a good position again.
  9. On the thermometer it's certainly milder than of late but under the cloud, rain and breeze it certainly hasn't felt like it today. Would much rather have sunny frosty weather than this. Tomorrow looking better in that respect
  10. They get a lot of snow because very cold air to their NW over China & Russia travels over the sea of Japan creating a lot of snow showers that pile into the country. Similar to our beasts from the east when the north sea creates loads of showers. Except their beasts are much more frequent so the snow piles up, they don't have a warming gulf stream like western Europe either so it's colder than normal for how far south they are.
  11. Weakest streamer in history in progress across the NW from the Ribble.
  12. Yes. It's been pretty good here. The cold has been persistent with virtually no mild days here 30 miles inland but just a pity there wasn't more snow but that's due to the nature of where the band's lined up, the luck of the draw rather than lack of cold. Overall it's been better than the last couple of winters considering I've had about 4 seperate snow covers since early December. More than the previous two winters combined so a good result up to now. Still plenty of winter to go.
  13. Forecasts have been utterly abysmal lately. I think they were more accurate years ago!
  14. I'd give this cold spell a 6 out of 10 as it's been pretty persistent. Snow wise 3 as the most we've had was a couple of inches on the 28th/29 December. Plus a few dustings in-between that but nothing really notable snow wise.
  15. Been a bit rubbish today...the lightest of coverings first thing this morning disappeared in no time. Even relative's 250m up in Saddleworth haven't done much better.
  16. Awaiting the band to the north of here that's about to make in roads into Saddleworth. It's pretty slow moving so won't arrive where I am until just after 3am (hopefully intact) then I'm going to get a few hrs sleep.
  17. Yeah I hope so too. Hope he's going to pull through this covid nightmare. He seems a decent guy.
  18. Thinking this is going to be nothing more than cold drizzle. I'm expecting to wake up to puddles.
  19. Had an ice day here max of -0.2C. Min was -6.8C...no snow here at the moment as I peep out of the blinds. Looks interesting tonight though.
  20. Uncertainty tomorrow for sure in regards to potential snow but I can't see anything particularly heavy. But it looks odds on to turn milder next week. We can't really expect it to stay cold for the entire month though, even the historically coldest Winters had some mild spells. At least it will help save a bit on the gas bill. Hopefully it will turn colder again later in the month.
  21. Slight sugar dusting this morning. Nice bright day today.
  22. Not bad.....not bad at all. Madrid might get buried this weekend. Not unheard of for it to snow there given it's a couple of thousand feet up and a very long way inland but I think really heavy snow isn't all that common. Looking forward to the pics of it should it happen.
