Atlantic ssts are devastating the chances of high latitude blocking taking hold IMHO.
Welcome to the new UK climate , I'd suggest the chances of cold winters are becoming more and more remote as the Atlantic warms...
Only my opinion of course...

I'm afraid EC 12Z just makes me hate our new climate even more.

Some amazing synoptics on offer this morning.
It's after the Lord Mayor's show for me personally after another wretched winter but I can appreciate beautiful synoptics whenever they arise.

As March approaches my attention turns to something dry at least.
Little sign of that on the 00z runs.EC if anything deteriates by day 10 ..
Another winter passes by with hardly any snow or cold to speak of even up here at 300m ASL.
Those Atlantic ssts will need watching as we head towards Autumn ,im blaming the warm seas for the almost relentless rains since November ,locally at least..

4 weeks earlier a different story..

Dennis thanks for providing excellent analysis through the winter.
I'm sure you are as fed up as we are but you manage to keep optimistic somehow.
Sometimes the charts come off ,sometimes they don't ,that's life i guess ..

Guys there is a post mortem thread
00z runs all suggest an angry looking Atlantic midterm with potential for some very snowy weather for high ground up North .
For the majority of the country it just looks crap though.

mountain shadow shame because a cold north westerly suits us both ..and that would be some sort of bonus at the end of winter..

It would be great if the hard core ( I'm looking at @Ali1977 @feb1991blizzard ) could be rewarded for their persistance.
Ive thrown the towel in myself, not because snow isnt possible into march ,because i lose interest mid feb onwards for various reasons..

mulzy bang on .
One of the reasons I would never ever dismiss the tremendous work the telecommunications experts do in their field.
However, CC is the elephant and one can't help but wonder if background drivers are unable to overcome the warm SSTS in the Atlantic ( stronger jet).

TEITS agreed.
I posted on the post mortem thread,a tipping point has been reached for me.
The rare times we do see Northern Blocking take hold it simply is no match for the Atlantic and gets blown away rapidly.Perhaps we are seeing CC related warm Atlantic ssts taking over ?
I've given up on eps etc, sick to death of reading eps look amazing at day 15 to see as day 0 counts down we get mild south westerlies,it happens every single Winter.
Fair play to the hard-core coldies sticking it out.

ENS showing a cooling down just in time for Spring.
I'm no nostradamus but it's a hallmark of a rubbish winter..

Imagine if we forward 50 years ( I for one won't be here ) and people talk about this current winter as frigid !!
Scary ..

Hopefully we will see a settling down as we move through April.
EC 12z looks unsettled out to day 10 .
One can't help but wonder if the Atlantic ssts are to blame
Regardless chasing winter weather Nov - Feb is fast becoming a complete waste of time in our new climate..
