I can see the wood burner being lit this weekend if the charts are close to being accurate.

An Omega pattern again. The GFS and ECM have both loved that pattern recently, and we've seen it come off.
But, it's also possible they are just presenting a pattern and something else could come along that means that pattern doesnt go that way given the time frames.
We'll see, but that sort of Southerly draw at the end of October would make me cry. Halloween needs to be cold and misty/foggy. Not warm!
First Mother in law would probably disagree with you, she reckons her broomstick is freezing at that time of year .

Nice down in Cornwall near St Ives this week. Sea breeze made a difference. Noticed how much hotter it is at home. The road works on the A30 near Camborne are a complete nightmare though. We managed to get off and come back on the A39, but I pity anyone trapped in their cars in this weather though.

Bless you how will you keep warm in the winter?
I’m old enough to remember single pained metal windows and homes that weren’t insulated and being absolutely frozen in bed during parts of winter as a child and I swore when I had my own place I’d never be cold again and I won’t be. Having said that this year I’m going to have the timed heating on lower at 20c rather than 22c unless we get any really cold weather. Plus going to have it on for 1 hour in the morning and 5 hours in the evening so hopefully won’t use £250 worth of energy like one of the months last winter how absolutely shameful these energy companies are and a government who is allowing it, join the dots….criminal!
Know what you mean, living in a Council House on the Mendips during the 60s /70's was bloody cold The living room was warm with it's coal fire, but that was it.
We had a Woodburner put in last year. Worth every penny.

Myself and the wife sat with blankets over our laps last night for the first time. Notice the evenings really starting to turn in now.

Not too bad here today, a few spits and spots of rain earlier on, but quite nice at about 22 degrees in the sunshine. Hoping it picks up around the 4th of next month, off to Cornwall for 4 days.

Yep. My reply post was aimed at the general use of supplements, not specifically Vit D ones. These co.s sell every supplement under the sun, and vast maj just arent needed or effective.
I find Thatchers Gold to be a good pick me up.

Well this summer has been as about as much use as a plasticine pogo stick. The sooner it packs i'ts bags, and foxtrot oscar the better as far as I'm concerned. Here in the S.W it's been absoloute gash since the end of June.

Shan't be sorry to see the back of this vile apology for a summer, and get into autumn, the weather will still probably be s,,te , but at least I shan't have any higher expectations.

We're playing at a festival on Saturday, God, that's going to be a joy. Feel sorry for people who have arranged events etc naively expecting something approaching half decent weatherwise.

Local ITV news had a segment today about some seaside businesses struggling due to lower footfall, apparently it’s been the worst July for some of these businesses in years. Very sad.
Think that gets overlooked sometimes, we all have our moans about the current weather pattern, but for some, it's verging upon disasterous especially when you hope to earn your money in the summer to see you through the winter.

Here's today's weather report from a rain and wind covered North Devon.
"Summer my ar*e, it's f****n s**te" I just knew I should have cancelled, but no, stupid me, forever the optimist.

Haha, they're probably too busy outside enjoying the nice weather as opposed to cooped-up indoors watching TV...
But speaking of....
What madness!
Bunch of masochists if you ask me!!

I wonder if Spanish people sit down in the afternoon and watch a programme called "A Place In The Pi**ing Rain"?

Is it just me or has July felt like the longest month ever? I can't believe we still have 4 days of it after this. I guess time flies and all that . . .
It's been like having all your teeth pulled without any anaesthetic.

A few dry weeks around 20 degrees would do me fine. Not much to ask for even in our depressing good for f**** all climate.

Convectively Coupled Kelvin Wave. Now as for what that means, you'll have to ask someone else!
Sounds excruciating

If this is supposed to be Summer, then they can shove it. Absolutely vile, about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

I'm staying hopefully - there is a weak cluster in the GEFS ensembles at 192-216 hrs that have a weak ridge over the UK.. Hanging onto threads.
Otherwise, it's the (latter part) of the 1st week of August where it may start to settle down.
Which August?

1976, the year I left school was nice, it seemed to go on forever. Not that I got to enjoy it much as I joined the Junior Leaders Regt R. A C . the week after I left.

Went to our local Garden Centre today, they are flogging sets of Garden Furniture for around 2 grand a throw. That's got to be the epitome of optimism in this crud .

This Weather is seriously depressing me now. Work is stressful but warm sunny days always take the sting out of it. Want to hide in a hole until we get some proper sunny weather again.
I can emphasise there, if I didn't work outdoors I probably wouldn't get so worked up about it. But sometimes it feels like a right kick in the b,,,, cks when, after 3 other wet, crud seasons, you get nearly a month of this dross. I don't crave heat necessarily, just dry will do.

Woodburner has been lit for the last 4 evenings . Got a half load of logs in this afternoon to go with what I already had got up together myself.
Got about 1.7 cubic metres now, should keep us going until just after Christmas. Might be able to top it up with a few fallen ash limbs from the side of the road , and left overs from Ash die back cutting .
