I did think that, zoomed out and the increase is shown all over the country. Wondered what possible event could cause all showers nationally to increase in intensity at the same time! Still, some might be valid! -

Just noticed how much all the showers seem to have intensified on the 1245 radar update. We've had a few showers this morning and each one has seemed more potent than the last. -

Quite heavy here in Saltburn for the last 45 minutes. Rain had washed most of it away but got a good half cm lying now...- 764 replies

Snow And Ice In The Northern Hemisphere 2012/13
Carl replied to Isolated Frost's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Have been reading this thread with interest and started wondering if there was a guide to autumn and winter (with a UK perspective) outlining what happens and when... some kind of narrative detailing what we would observe here (leaves changing, days shortening, temperatures dropping, winds increasing, first signs of frost, snow and ice, etc) and their causes. Something which tells us novices who want to follow the start of autumn and winter this year what to look for. Anyone? -
Thats a stroke of genuis from the boffins at the Met. Updating an alert for NOW during rush-hour. It was quite clear two hours ago this was going to affect a wider area.

The Met Office have an amber warning for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber running from 1400 to 2200 so there's still a chance. We've got something heading in now which looks threatening but seems everything has died out as its hit our area today. Over the last few days we've basically had a couple of rumbles from one cell and a bit of rain. Thats it! -

Sounds good, here's hoping this afternoon produces something special, been a bit quiet round these parts - which is typical as i used to live in Newcastle and didn't see a single storm for years after the 2005 monster.. have missed those there the last few weeks! -

What are peoples thoughts on the effects of this in the Teeside area? We've avoided most of the worst weather of recent weeks, is that about to change? -

The storm didn't last long but is seemingly intensifying again. No thunder heard for the last 20 mins or so but its very grey and misty. -

Woken here in Saltburn in the last few minutes by a huge rumble of thunder. Storm has reached us although it seems to have calmed slightly in the last few minutes. -

Really kicked off in Darlo about an hour ago, many flashes and loud, prolonged rumbles of thunder. Still seeing occasional flash to the North. -
