    I was in Teeside today and came back up the A19, noticed the same thing... who knows, the night is young.. its all clearing here now though.

    I'm just a few mins further west than you so am now getting fairly heavy and persistent rain. No thunder or lightning.

    Something meaty looking heading in over the west end from the West.. should be with you shortly, sky is almost black! Huge hailstone now falling in west end of Newcastle. Sky is black! Newcastle, 5 mins ago...

    We've already had some thunder and very heavy rain in Newcastle. Just spotted this over by the Metrocentre

    So folks, what are we making of the risk for Tyneside today? The Met Office warning seems to just omit this area but everything i've seen in this thread seems to suggest we're front and centre for any potential risk. Additionally, we've had our first rain pass over Newcastle in the last hour.

    Cloud cover has beefed up significantly since 9am all of it appears to have the same characteristics as those in my earlier pics. I do hope so, could do with a good storm. I'm recording 27.5 degrees at present and we're forecast for 15 degrees tomorrow. Thats a huge change!

    Couple of images if just taken looking into the Tyne valley and out towards the North Sea. These look to me like they could beef up, in fact, i can see them growing as i watch. Any thoughts?

    Met Office have now cancelled warnings of heavy snow.

    Can anyone comment on the Met Office warning for tomorrow night? What are we looking at for this? Is what is currently shown over Europe moving up the coast and hitting the NE? Are we expecting a quiet night here tonight?

    Extending to where i am West of Newcastle city centre. Fairly light but getting stronger.

    Starting to hit where i am now.. near the west road.

    Judging by the 2105 update, that mass near Berwick is heading directly for Newcastle pulling a long line behind it. It looks very intense too.

    Those immediately behind it seem to have pepped up a little bit over the last 30-45 mins on the NW radar...

    The 1730 Met Office radar implies its fizzling out up there...

    I have been in Middlesbrough all day and have seen on and off showers since lunchtime. Travelling up the coast at present. Heavy snow between Boro and Thornaby, less dense up to Billingham where there are clearing skies.Will have to see how things develop later but pleased to have two days with no essential travelling ahead.

    Only started here in the last 5-10 mins.. light but wonder if i'm getting whats slowly passed over you lot and if there's much left to come down!

    Thanks MCT.. we've got best part of a foot where i live already. Am truly amazed public transport has held up so far.. wonder if this is the straw that'll break the camels back..
