  1. Hi Andy I booked my insurance with "Go walk about" 0845 3450 327 they do a storm chasing cover. Ross came on the tour this year and got his through Dirct on line. Yoy could get quote from both. Also don't forget you need to apply for an on line visa. You will need the address for the motel in Dallas for that. I assume it will be the same as this year. You may need to confirm that with Paul Sherman. Tom
  2. Hi Ross ve Nice to hear you are ok. Hope you can get chasing. DVD didn't arrive so I guess must be by your front door. Naughty chap!. I still have a lot of work to do on highlights mysellf. Tom No problem Craig. It seems that there is another insurance company that also do storm chasing cover. See other messages. Tom
  3. Hi Ross Hope you are ok. I might look at them, worth trying a couple. Tom
  4. No problem Harry the link to the Visa site is below-: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html?_flowExecutionKey=_c2CA70179-055C-5833-0A61-F5D3F7ED0231_kD69267B8-D0CA-F285-150C-FB2AA13BC085 Just copy, paste and go. You can print off the waiver number that they give you but you dont need to show it. You may also still need to fill in a form on the plane, we did this year. You will need to put in the name and address of the hotel that you will be staying on the first night in the states. I can find that out for you too. I guess it will be the same one as this year. The phone number for the travel insurance is 0845 3450327. They are called "Go walkabout" and they are the only company that I have found which will cover stormchasing. This year cost me £80 ish but I was there longer and I am already old and falling to pieces Yours might be cheaper but you need to ask for a quote. 10. Yes I agree Snow Queen. It was nice meeting people and putting names to faces. Look forward to meeting everyone again. Th Northern Monkey
  11. Hi Pat I was working in garden in Windermere and watched towers building most of the day. but no action. Until I got home to my own garden and storms developed east and west of my house. I laid back on the chair in the garden with my grandson watching as the thunder rolled by. One cell that passed over Ambleside gave me grief because it caused a flash flood and I had to arrange sandbags to be sent to one property Tom
  12. Ve haff ways of making you talk, you swine. Tom But agreeing to being Irish, really Pat. But John has you banged to rights old chap. Tom
  13. Pat you thought it was immigration asking you the questions. I said where are you from and you said "Ireland." I asked what you were doing here and you said " Sightseeing" Bloody sightseeing! Cookie, it is not a bad thing to be cautious with lightning it can kill but with us you are in safe hands , lightning is treated with respect. As for flying, flying is one of the safest forms of transport. Get a bottle of red wine and a good movie and jet away to a fantastic experience. Tom (Northerm Monkey)
  14. John says that the English have been raping and pillaging the Irish for 900 years I guess being half Irish I have suffered for 450 yrs . Tom Lynch
  15. Pat what are you leaving Chelt at ? Tom Paul You will be pleased to know that I actually had my camcorder on at Childress and have found the close lightning strike outside the motel. I also caught whatever caused the rotation well north of Childress. It will all be on my dvd for the bbq . Tom
  16. Hi yes there were actually about 5 I think, some like myself were just cameo roles i.e. walk on, walk off (a few times) Paul S, Nick, Ian (72oz man) Andy & me. Paul S of course had a bigger role, but then he is. We did get on Chris's ITV footage MORE THAN a few times but were left on the cutting room floor! Tom
  17. Looking forward meeting you again you Pat Tom
  18. After a cameo appearance on Natures Fury I expect to be nominated for an Oscar and I am ready and waiting So I may grace the BBQ with my presence.
  19. Hi Ross Where abouts in Florida are you? Tom
  20. Do you know I miss it too . Maybe get a chase here in the UK who knows. Tom
  21. Hi Hail fog forms when you get millions of tonnes of hail falling into warm air. I lays on the ground whichis also warm andiIt creates a thick cold fog , which can and does cause lots of road accidents. Its like when you open the fridge door in a warm room only 100s of times thicker. Tom
  22. Hi Paul thanks fo reminding me about Buddy Holly it had almost slipped my mind "That'll be the day" We never some some of the cloud structures like the one below this year it looked slightly familar Just want to be your teddy bear! Did you know where Elvis was born? Tom .
  23. I am so pleased that everyone enjoyed either taking part in or following the chase. Going the extra mile is what it is all about. Storm chasing requires lots of patience and bags of stamina. e.g We set off from El Reno and drove 200 miles to Childress Texas in the hope of severe storms. However they did not develop and I was informed at 5.00pm that we had rooms booked at a hotel in Wichita , Kansas. This was a trip of 395 miles back through El Reno. We arrived some time around 2.00am and checked into our motel. Time for a couple of Buds as a night cap and then bed. Life on the road is fun and living out of a suitecase for the duration of your stay interesting to say the least. There was an element of rotation i.e worn clothes put at the bottom of the case and you put on clothes from the top of the case etc etc. I met so many nice people and have so many fond memories of the tours I wouldn't know where to start. At the Days Inn in Childress I swapped the door numbers and managed to confuse everyone as they all went into the wrong rooms. I even confused myself because I too went to the wrong room and couldn't figure out why Paul was in my room. Whilst Ian was in training for the 72oz steak challenge he had to drink 3.5 litres of water per day and it was a funny moment when we realised than he had drunk so much water he would be affected by the gravitational pull of the moon. Above is a photo I took of the passing storm whilst staying at the Days Inn Childress. The manager there gave us a full box of Bud that he didn't want, nice chap. I didn't change his door numbers over that night.
