In Absence of True Seasons i would be happy with a repeat of spring 2023 here ..May 2023 was beautifully warm sunny and dry and was the warmest month of the year for daytime highs got above 31c on 3 of the first 4 days of the month..April was also relatively warm and sunny
September is usually good for these in Edmonton ..most recent example i could find in the last 10 years only was Sept 7, 2017 went from 1.2c in the morning to 32.6c in the afternoon range of 31.4c
TwisterGirl81 not really i spent all of my life apart from the last 10 years or so living in Chelmsford and Exeter so i know its a different kind of cold.
ANYWEATHER coldest March temp i have experienced in Edmonton was -42c in 2011
TwisterGirl81 Spring is very short as winter tends to hang on into April and summer kicks in Mid May..summers are great often sunny and dry with no humidity temps often 22-30c from Mid May to Mid August thereafter it tends to start to cool off.
probably 1986...it was a cold year in general...obviously a very cold February was then followed by a very cold and wet April..summer was garbage outside of June...1985 was another cold winter followed by a garbage summer ..outside of the disgustingly wet and cool July 1988 wasn't too bad..June was ok as was August in my neck of the woods...1987 i struggle with because i dont remember it being too bad but stats say otherwise!
damianslaw Every Strong or super strong El Nino in the past has resulted in a Mild snowless winter with the exception of 1983 which had an exceptionally mild January followed by a cold snowy February..so was always perplexed by the notion of an El Nino pattern favouring a cold winter in lots of the winter forecast for 2023-24
WYorksWeather except in the prairie provinces particularly Alberta where i live where there have been a succession of colder than average years ..2023 should buck that trend though
Don if you look at the last ElNino event of 2016 the global sea temp is only 0.1c warmer than it was then... be interesting to see if there is a similar drop off in SSTs this year as there was in 2016
even though i have spent time in Dubai, Singapore, Maldives and Cyprus ..the hottest temp i have experienced is 42c in Prince George BC in June 2021..The coldest -48c here in Edmonton just a few weeks ago.
