Had a frosty start this morning, 3rd already, more then all of last winter! I really dislike the charts as they're so mild.. A few months earlier I would be with it, but in the coming few months warmer uppers don't really do much except ruin our cold dreams! edit: something like this would definitely be nice for the run up to christmas.. very festive

That's for my location, actually upgraded slightly to 78% with 14% chance the next day on the 10 day forecast! If this pulls off i will be very happy

I just love watching the models even if they dont turn out right, because they give me great excitement on how they think such amazing events could actually happen! 64% chance of snow on the 2nd December.. Thats the highest snow risk we've had in years even out that far, so I'm pretty happy even if it does downgrade to nothing in the next week

Luckily I'm just about as North as anyone else in this group, so I am hoping to escape any damaging winds but I'm not ruling out the odd strong gust overnight and have put all my garden furniture away for the winter! Perfectly calm out there, no breeze at all and completely blue, was a great sunset!

This would be pretty disastrous if this one were to come off.. Luckily its so far out at the end of the run it should get downgraded.. hopefully

Convective Storm/Discussion thread - 02/09/16 onwards

Traumatised to say the least.. I decided yesterday afternoon at an hour before sunset to take a walk down to the beach and saw what looked from the angle i viewed it from, a light short shower once I was down there. I decided to stay down at the beach and wait it out and regret it alot! The rain kept on battering me for a good half hour straight very heavily in i think what might be some of the most gusty wind I have ever experienced whilst outside myself. The sand was just picked up and lifted by the wind and some quite large rocks the size of one of my hands were slowly blowing up the beach whilst I struggled to stand up at all.. Definitely going to check the radar next time I decided to pop out to an exposed area for a walk even when its completely blue sky above me and we aren't forecasted for anything.. -
Yesterday we had a few sleet showers in the early morning before a short thunderstorm in the afternoon, feeling very chilly.. Had -2c here overnight with a lovely white frost covering everything! Feeling lovely and wintery, shame the snow won't make it this far south..

Got a 24% snow risk here on the North Norfolk coast at an elevation of only 56ft! This winter seems like its actually going to deliver for us if this carries on as it gets colder..

I personally love all the different weather sorts you get in Autumn because the variety is great! Unfortunately so far the past month here has been above average with very little in the way of rain.. We only had one day where it rained more then 3 hours and that was 10th September. Im looking forward to the weather finally chilling down aswell because the first few frosts always excite me!

Why do so many people find thunderstorms relaxing?
Delka replied to Lauren's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I find them anything but relaxing, if we get a thunderstorm I'm running from window to window around the house in joy!- 22 replies

Anybody know where I can find the past 24 hour rainfall total maps?

High-tide alerts along the Norfolk-Lincolnshire coast this evening, first of the autumnal tides! Heres a picture from a local from my town from about 2 hours ago.. EDIT: Correction, seems like the alerts/warnings spread all down the east coast? Not sure the areas, havent checked the environment agency website myself yet.

Forecast is going for a possible 31c here tomorrow, yet the record to beat is apparently 24.9c here.. That would be insane with a 6c jump!

Bicester, Oxfordshire Storm, 27/08/2016

I also live in Hunstanton and went down to the beach just before the big storm here, and I can back up the mans word, the town has most definitely not seen a storm like it in a very long time. Localised flooding in a few minutes with constant flashes and a low rumble that lasted a good 10-15 minutes. -
South East and East Anglia weather discussion/Chat - 1st June onwards

The storms here yesterday came over separately twice in the afternoon, some at 3-4pm then the main round at 6:30pm. The first bought some huge hail 1-3cm with some very gusty winds and huge cracks of thunder. The second was a surprise bonus. The bonus round included the sky suddenly plunging into complete darkness making it look more like midnight then 6:30pm. It started with some of the brightest flashes and then the rain came on, all the streets in the town were flooded in a matter of about 10-15 minutes, constant flashing and about a minute of hail halfway through. It was a very scary experience, luckily nobody was hurt and only 6 properties in the town were actually damaged in this. So basically, one of the biggest short thunderstorms I have ever seen, very sudden, biblicial rain like I really have never seen before and some stupidly large hail and gusty winds. I had fun trying to chase the first storm but had to pull over because of the hail. Edit: The closest weather station yesterday apparently recorded 47.2mm of rain yesterday afternoon
