    Too true: I used to hide under my eiderdown (we didn't have duvets back then!) whenever I heard rain on the roof. IMO, the best antidote to irrational fear is understanding.

    Same here; yesterday was the first definitely subnormal day for quite some time. It's just that I'm quite comfortable at 18C.

    I think the real problem is one of non-comprehension, and, with it, the somewhat dubious belief that everyone has something relevant to say, on any subject whatsoever. Should society start doubting the reality of gravity?

    Indeed, and it looks as though 32C might be reached, for what will be the third time this summer, sometime over the weekend.

    And, do you apply that same 'logic' to, say, Holocaust denial, polio-vaccine denial or MMR vaccine denial? Is adherence to the efficacy of those a 'religious belief, too?

    I was in London for the summers of 2010 and 2011; and, during that time, the Met. Office predicted a 'barbecue summer', and NW a 'shades of 1976', neither of which materialised. Predicting seasons is far from easy!

    Not me; I'd rather learn from those who make even a minimal effort in checking the veracity of their 'sources'. And, from what I've seen, the non-Mainstream media do not do that.
