  1. that would be close tou national record of 98 knots in limerick in 1945 and 97 knots during ex hurricane debbie sept 1961
  2. It reached 17.7 degrees yesterday in Shannon, Ireland. UK record for date is 17.8 degrees in 1938 and 1948 . Historical warmth just keeps coming.
  3. Personally in Dublin it would be the 8 hr thunderstorms overnight early morning 25/26July1985 . The february 9th gale of 1988 which lasted throughout the whole day with continuous 40pmh and severe gusts, boulders and rocks were washed up onto the fields in western Ireland and the whole country was affected. January 1987 on my way to school in virtually calm weather it snowed gigantic flakes that resembled big toblerone triangles ( truly memorable ). Hurricane Charley August 25th 1986.. All in the space of 4 years no wonder I became an obsessed weather geek in my teenage years..
  4. In Dublin it was a very snowy month thans to light bitterly easterly winds and lovely sea convection and the 23rd of the month saw our heaviest snowfall with many areas around greater dublin seeing 9 -12inches and thousands stranded at the airport.
  5. I am currently on Crete about 40km east of Chania and today we have had 5hrs of persistent and drenching rain with ground lightning strikes from 10AM and would guess around 25 40mm fell in that time.. The previous 6 days were very pleasant with 24 to 28.8 degrees and mostly sunny although a sharp thunderstorm struck on Monday midday. Cooler today obviously and looks like round 2 tonight which would be great to see night lightning .As for the weekend it looks like all of the Aegean see Rhodes included will see many storms as unsettled weather prevails here in Greece.
  6. I hope you can describe some of the storms you get this coming winter as we can only dream of white outs here, and of course those cold temperature readings.
  7. You don't often see Ireland missing out on all that rain too ..that's a rare radar there right now
  8. yes plentiful sunshine last week but not now its very gloomy ,Im surprised its so grey wiht the size of the high pressure and its drizzly too..Ive loved our summer though for this part of the world.
  9. This is astonishing as only on wednesday this aws a tropical disturbance south of Cuba
  10. I think Iceland might break there national heat record today.. It seems a there is a current temperature of 28.9 degrees in the northeast of the country at the moment.. Maybe off topic but still a summer rant as they are miles and miles north .Incredible if they do as this year keeps on surprising us with extreme temps so far north
  11. And again day1 of many many sunny days here in Dublin as that wonderful placed high pressure brings us countless days of 19 -24 degrees. Perfect conditions and I even took the day off to sunbathe, ahhhh Happy Mondays
