There's a monster in the channel now, front of electrical activity stretches from just south of Hastings to Le Treport in France. Looks like Calais will take a direct hit along with the entire coast running north from Le Treport
Yes I'm keeping a close eye on that lot in the Channel just to my south. Frequent lightning here now.

Still thunder and lightning here, another storm overhead as I type. It started about 8pm last night and hasnt stopped since. Almost 9 hours and still counting !

Well, whoever it was (Azazel?) that forecast a busted flush/damp squib/Kent Clipper - well done, that man: you hit the nail on the head!
Really ? Had lightning visible here since about 8pm last night and still continuing.

In the edit box you type in to reply, you should see a 'choose files' hyperlink just below it. Click it, and it'll open up an action box, then just navigate to the folder where your pictures are. If you click one, it'll start uploading, when it has finished, click the + icon that shows in the uploaded picture, it will place it inline within the edit box.
Much obliged, I will try that later cheers.

Haven't been on here since relocating to Hastings 3 months ago. I shall spend tomorrow evening from around 4pn under Bottle Alley on the seafront as the storms roll in. Unobstructed views out to sea. One of the reasons I moved here was because this area often gets decent convection.
I might see you down there then. I moved down here last year after numerous visits over the years and you are right about this quite often being a favourable location in such set ups.

Looks like that band of heavy convective rain moving SE over N and W London currently may still squeeze out the odd flash and rumble as per recent strike activity to the W and NW of London ... but not expecting anything more than heavy when it reaches here on the south side of the big smoke.
Keeping an eye on that as it appears to be heading my way.

Really? Looked like a cracker on radar, with lots of strikes.
To be honest it was fairly sporadic and nothing like some of the storms other areas have seen this week and I have seen better down here already this year. Musn't grumble though, I was just pleased to eventually get something.

That storm over hastings is going ballistic!
As someone who is right underneath it I think you may be overstating it a bit !

Would that be 'Harrow View' by any chance?
I have never heard it called that to be honest but it does come under Harrow.

Well so far so good - at work near Watford and looking to finish at 1:30 if I'm lucky and then it's not far to the M1 / M40 junctions dependant on where I need to go (if anywhere). Have plenty of work to do on my laptop so the plan is to find somewhere open to sit and wait for some action.
I'm open to suggestions for where to go to get the best vantage - ideally I'd like to be out of any heavy rain / hail cores but near enough for the lights and sounds.
I know no-one can predict where storms will be but any well-educated guesses are welcome!
If I were you I would head just 4 and 1/2 miles down the road to a place called Grims Dyke/ Old Redding. It has extensive views to the south as far as the North Downs of Surrey. It would be an ideal spot for watching the storms which appear to be heading ing up from the south at the moment.
I used to live locally and would often head there to watch storms.

Currently sitting in my garden watching the distant flashes from that cell in the English Channel

Yeah the north sea muck is being very very stubborn. It returned up here around 11pm and has again managed to cover most of the region. I certainly hope that thing improve much quicker today.
Welcome to the forum by the way
Thanks for the welcome Matt.
