Meanwhile, nothing happening here so far !

It's tongue in cheek.
I pretty much guessed that but all joking aside, the Amber warning from the Met Office is surely one that needs to be taken seriously ? That's some fairly hefty rain totals they are suggesting as possible in a very busy part of the country.

I'm a a bit surprised by that remark Nick.

Watching the radar this evening I cant help but think of the Frankie goes to Hollywood track 'Two Tribes'.

Still climbing 24.6 now, guess it's gonna be an uncomfortable night. What the heck is causing this anyway.
That's quite a difference from my location just along the coast, currently 20.6c here and I thought that was warm.

Langdon Bay at 26c as we approach Midnight 14th September!
A bit chilly there now though, only 24c at 01:00 hours ! Currently 21.2 c here just along the coast but what another stunning day it was. Max here today was 29.6c which would be well above average for the height of summer, let alone mid September.

Well pleased with another cracking early autumn day here on the sunny south coast. Max T 24.4c with over 8 hours of sunshine and a light breeze. So glad I moved down here.

It's been an absolutely perfect early Autumn day here. Blue skies from about 8:30am and barely a cloud in the sky since, light breeze, max temp at nearby Herstmonceux was 25.9c.
I parked up on Galley Hill ( Bexhill ) with tremendous views across to St Leonards and Hastings to my East, and Eastbourne to my west.
Folk were having picnics on the cliff top and all along the seafront, sitting on the beach and swimming in the sea as boats sailed by and a paraglider was having fun using the thermals. I saw an awful lot of happy smiling faces this afternoon. It made my day.
Oh, and my new AWS arrived this morning ahead of schedule so I have something else to look forward to, setting that up.- 2

Last night did indeed feel very warm. I was sat in the garden around midnight and it was 18.6c with a DP of 18.2c. Very pleasant.

A fantastic late summer day here with wall to wall sunshine, a light breeze and a max of 28.9c. It's good to see so many folk out and about on the beach and seafront enjoying themselves and making the most of this fine spell of weather

With 2 outdoor events to attend over the weekend the weather gods were kinder than I was expecting and although very windy at times ( especially Saturday ), both events were thankfully rain free in this neck of the woods. Sunday afternoon even saw enough in the way of sunny spells to have me reaching for the sun lotion.
This afternoon has seen a return to near perfect summer conditions here and quite frankly I'm looking forward to the rest of the week and the forecast heat, albeit brief.
August really has been a very decent month here.- 1

All in all this weekend wasn't too bad considering the forecast. Quite windy at times but managed to miss most of the rain here at times when it mattered most. Happy with that.

So does anyone think we will get much wind on the South Coast tomorrow? I tidied up the garden just in case.
Well the Met Office seem to think so and I trust them far more than some other sources.

It's been an absolute cracker of a day here today, warmest day of the month so far at 25.3c with wall to wall sunshine and a tolerable sea breeze.
The forecasts are not looking at all good but so far this month has produced what I think is the best spell of the summer here. A real contrast to the August's of recent years. -
Just home from a very pleasant afternoon on the beach and despite a fairly stiff easterly breeze the temperature reached 24.7c.
That makes it the 4th warmest day here this summer, and the warmest since July 19th. Feeling happy- 2

The garden appreciated the rain but that aside it is a thoroughly disgusting day here. 'Nuff said.

You've completely taken my post out of context.
I said I would prefer wet and windy over hot weather. My ideal summer weather is sunny and 18-25c, don't need it any warmer than that, as long as it's comfortable to sit outside. Please read my posts before getting ranty!
2 hours ago, Nick L said:Never understood this concept of "deserving" weather, it's not as if anyone's actually done anything to warrant whatever weather they've got.
I don't like wet and windy weather, but at least I can sleep during it.
I can just about understand what you are saying there Nick but it had me confused for a while ;-).
Perhaps we should just accept the fact that we all have different opinions and tolerances to the weather that comes our way ?

Fun sleeping in that
To be honest I don't have a problem with it. Windows open and a nice breeze blowing through.

My nearest official weather station ( Herstmonceux, 11.7 miles away ) has now reported an impressive rise in temperature in the last hour.
21.5c at midnight and now 24c at 1am.

Apologies if this is veering slightly off topic but on a personal level I find my eyes glazing over at times trying to follow and interpret posts which seem to show a plethora of charts over and over again, often within an hour or so of each other. Not a criticism as such, just an observation.
NB: It doesn't help when folk later quote the posts and include all the same charts already posted again. Just saying.

Farewell October and thank you for a very pleasant day to end the month on. I spent the afternoon on the seafront in Bexhill soaking up the sun and enjoying the warmth, 20.0c locally. I even managed to get home and cut the grass before darkness fell.
It's been one of the most settled Octobers I can remember, no complaints from me.
