Morning all from dull and cooler marginals 7.3C , breeze from NW- so the airmass change forecast overnight certainly happened!. Spring slowly springing-trees and hedges finally planted, but plenty of other stuff to do before proper warm up. Like Joe says next month looking really uncertain-I'm still just favouring a cold dry March.

Yeah both provided some snow here and significant drifting in the hills above say 200m. Honestly can't remember last time we had lowland drifting of any note.

I was talking to a couple of neighbours the other day about lost local knowledge and the topic of bad snow drifting spots turned up. I can still remember most of the local bad spots(!), but has anyone get any details for most recent drifting events at lower altitudes? Got a feeling late 80's? can't remember much more recent. 1979(?) might even be the last time the lanes really got filled in. (sadly)

Dull and calm in the marginals, though just brightening up a little now, Thermometer says 9.1 but it feels creepy-cold outside. Just been across the fields to pick up some firewood before before a bit of midweek rain makes every thing too wet again.

Another frost this morning-0.8 but looks like it got damp the froze later. Decent day again today, now 2.5 bit of high cloud in.

-0.5 at dawn this morning in the marginals. Sounds like a Cheshire plain inversion in place- Rush reporting no frost higher up in Macc, but there was a frost lower down in town, but a -1.3 in sunny Northwich from severe snowstorm-interesting. Anyhoo very nice day in the marginals, but a slight breeze kicking up which is making things feel chilly. Hares now a regular spot on the lanes just before daylight, which is usually a sign of the season moving along (plus a bonus barn owl). Model thread still touting a cold march which I'm not sure i'm up for-although it would hold things back and make a bit more time for cutting and planting!

Dunno, if I fancy a cold March Dark Horse! Think I can remember a few shockers when I was in my teens-so early 80's- got caught out in a snowstorm on my bike coming back from an early season trout fishing trip around then-think it was the closest to frost bite I've ever been-crying as the circulation came back! On the subject of cold spring weather despite recent pleasant springs we've had plum blossom frosts the last three years in the marginals.

-1.9C at dawn this morning, Current reading 3.7 but frost has just hung on on shaded roofs. Pretty stunning day in the marginals and home early enough to see the end of it! Birds emptied all the feeders in a day if you read anything into nature signs!

-1.2 in the marginals at dawn this morning. Now bright and clear but with a thin veil of high cloud. Hoping this upcoming high is clear. Find cloudy highs grim.

7.3C in the dull and gently breezy marginals. Decent day for outside jobs. Still got plenty to do before spring (Hedges done, but trees to plant, firewood to cut, veg patch to dig etc etc) kind of hoping some anticyclonic cool/cold materialises just to hold thinks back a little-the onset of spring caught me out a bit last year!

7.9C in the blustery marginals. Full cloud cover blowing fairly briskly from the NW. Starting to enjoy the slightly longer daylight. Still not seen that bl****y comet-suspect Manchester light pollution in exactly the wrong place. As Had worse stated, things waking up in the crazy thread, could it be possible????-Doubt it, but it's probably about due.

All quiet in the marginals-light drizzle for a little bit of excitement. On the bright side not bad for outside jobs so finished hedge planting!

A fairly uninspiring day in the marginals, overcast, no frost last night and just touched 5 C. But....... did anyone clock that sunset? Thin strip of most vivid red just beneath the cloud layer.

Yeah -1 in the marginals last night, which was a little surprising-roads starting to look a bit knackered round about. (well more knackered than usual). Think that might be it for a few days on the frost front, next few days looks a bit meh, but breezy.

-1.3 and a slightly surprising frost in the Marginals last night. Now 4.6 full cloud cover and v light drizzle-ah well at least its still just light!

All in all a decent day in the marginals-generally bright and dry throughout, one or two bits of snow still around in the shade. 2.5C at 5.00pm currently 0.9C generally clear, some bits of high cloud. Still feels like we're just on the cold side of the boundary.

Ahhh Damian a trip to the marginals, still some lying snow! Think your right about next week-coolish, dullish, calmish. Possible weak midweek front. I was hoping for a clear high!

High cloud cover, slow thaw 1.7C in the marginals. Dropped to about -3 lat night before rising to -O,5 at dawn as cloud sheet rolled in.

Hmmm 6.5C in the marginals, colder than the forecasts saying. Just been down to 'bach to watch the rugby- surprisingly raw in the wind. Plus some mammatus cloud drifting through.
