Absolutely sod all here in south Lakeland. Unbelievable.

Nothing but sunshine and short intermittent snizzle showers. The fact that there isn't much of a covering on the hills does not bode well. Sun seems to strong and temps too strong not helping any gallon snow settle. Early Feb and it seems almost spring like! If I had believed the previous days firecasts we would have had snow showers since the early hours and have an inch or two by now! Certainly not getting my hopes for the rest of the day or the coming days either....

Yes no problem. Firstly it would be the trend of every single forecasted snowfall event has been downgraded from something quite major to a whimper. Around 4 times this has happened this winter. Secondly the time of year; it is now pushing mid February and although, I am aware, it can snow on February and march as we push towards spring the legnthening days the chances of a long significant snap are reduced. Following today's apparent downgrade from what again could haven been a potentially decent snowfall event I have decided to throw the towel in. I know I rub a lot of people up the wrong way here and I am hugely unpopular, thankfully I have a thick skin, but my analysis and predictions this winter get have been spot on. And this is because it has been based on (a) maturity and (b) most importantly experience. Thank you.

Well a respectable 2-4cm for here in south Lakeland as expected. Seemed to thaw quite rapidly by lunch time despite temps clinging between 1-2 degrees. Spent some time wondering the 'thops where accumulations were very slightly (but not much) higher due to the lower temps. A bizarre winter for me, I have seen 3 snowfall 'events' which have given slight accumulations (around 2cm mark) which have been preceded by rapid thaws, however, given the fact I have'nt seen any snowfall whatsoever for the previous 4 winters it has been a joy to behold. Not hoping for much for the remainder of winter now, some sleety snow possible for the rest of the week but nothing significant, and of course as we edge closer to spring, with the models tending to no major cold snap looking on the horizon for our region its looking like winter is slowly petering out. I am expecting the 2018 weather season to follow the trend of an early onset of spring followed by a cool wet summer. Barmada.

Don't know where you get your forecasts from but I am in the same location as you and I am widely projected to get light to moderate snowfall between 4am to 12pm leaving a deposit of 1.13cm to 2.67cm, and nothing forecasted after that on Tuesday.

Tonight and the early hours of the morning will see a short lived front of light snowfall make its way across the region giving a small accumulation of up to 2cm (max) at lower levels in parts of the region and the proverbial more on higher ground. This is not a major event in the slightest. Any potential snowfall later in the week for our region will also be downgraded and will not lead to anything significant.

sorry guys and I know I am hugely unpopular on this forum but.... Tuesdays snowfall potential has been massively downgraded and continues to do so. For my location what was originally forecasted as virtually a whole day of heavy snow has been whittled down to just a couple of hours in the morning which may give a cm or two. I would fully expect this predicted forthcoming snow and cold event to be a huge let down just like the previous ones this winter....its a trend. Sorry guys I know you do not like me but am honest....and I have been right all winter so far.

Ok, moderate snowfall here which has accumulated quite quickly, maybe a cm or so. Think it will fall steadily till day break giving similar accumulations to the late December event. A rather bizzare day it must be said!

Strange that other posters in Cumbria are reporting heavy snow whereas all I amngetting is heavy rain/sleet!!

Strange I am 5 miles away from Windermere and have heavy rain!!!!!

Thread has gone very quiet which generally sums up the mood of a lot of people here, Fed up and let down. It is certainly up there with one of the lowest points in my 15 years on this forum, and there has been many I may add, a very sad tale indeed.

Yeah same here - any snow will be confined to the hills. Lower levels in Cumbria will get a smeltering mix of wimpy hail and sleet similar to last night. Can't say I'm surprised by the outcome of the last few days, as you lads know we have been here so many times before. Looking to the future there is no real potential for any significant snow or cold spell in the immediate future, rest if the winter is looking like a write off, dominated by the mild Atlantic.

Any talk of any decent snow affecting Cumbria will chiefly affect higher ground. Wouldn't expect much at lower levels anywhere.

Raining again. Truly devastated today. Could anyone on the forum give me an insight to what Lakeland (Ambleside/Winderere) can expect rest of today and tomorrow? Thanks.

Sorry guys and I hate to be the one who told you all so but the all the hule and talk has once again lead to another MASSIVE let down. If I had believed the forecasts and chats I would have awoken to about 10cms of snow having experienced what would have been 24 hours + of constant snowfall. The reality is here has been no snow, and it's raining with some hail mixed in. The standard outcome of 99% of any major snowfall forecasts. Like I said hate to be the one who told you all but I have been on this forum for over 15 years and have seen it happen so many times.

Woke up to green as expected. Had short rain and hail showers so far. Not expecting much rest if today. Feel quite proud to have nailed this one and not carried away with it.....

Off to bed, nothing here in Lakeland as expected. I will not wake up to a whiteout as forecasted. There will be no snowfall here in the next few hours. Tomorrow will bring a repeat of sleet, hail and rain with no accumulations. I have been using this forum for 15 years, experience has taught me to never take forecasted snowfall seriously. 99% of forecasted snow leads to major let-downs. I am not even bothered as I knew this would happen, hope other forum users have taken note. I will report back when I wake up. *I predict now at 05:17 that when I wake up there will no accumulated snow, it will be wet and cold.*

Very little here south lakes. Not expecting much here overnight, probably a few sleety/hail showers tomorrow but nothing significant in the slightest.

Have suffered in this part of Cumbria these last few months. If anyone deserves something its us!

That's the one in 5 year event I am referring too. Last time before that was Jan 13. Not been in the Lakes all that time but in those 5 years I have hardly been living on a desert!

That's fair enough Damien but I'm coming from the perspective of the countless let downs over the years. Whenever snow is nailed on etc 99% it doesn't happen or goes everywhere except where I live. This is emphasised by the fact I have seen accumulating snow fall once in the last 5 years!! I stand by my judgement and say that I expect nothing more than rain with some sleet or hail but certainly no significant snowfall in my location. On Sunday we will see I I am right or not.
