  1. Looks it's centre runs more along the west coast of Florida to me. Would mean it continues to be fueled by warm waters and maintains intensity for longer as it moves north near the coast?
  2. Would also mean the storm remains over warm water for longer. More time to re-strengthen. Also, not long ago it looked as though western parts of Florida would be largely spared. A more western track puts them in the firing line and more of the state on the more dangerous, eastern side of the storm.
  3. Shows how difficult the track and subsequent consequences of a hurricane are to predict, as they wobble about with little to steer them and their intensity and size dependent on interaction with land and water. Always thought low pressure systems in the UK were particularly difficult to predict but often you just need to look at the position of the jet stream steering them.
  4. In the UK, an inch of rain often leads to localised flooding. 12+ inches expected across Florida, yet all talk seems to be flooding from storm surges and strong winds, and comparatively little talk about flooding from rainfall. I mean, that is a hell of a lot of rain! Surely going to cause damage even across areas not affected by strong winds or storm surge?
  5. Pretty much a direct hit for Miami, as far as I can work out. In line with the ECM now -
  6. Storms beginning to develop over and to the south of Stoke. We have rumbles of thunder and drops of rain.
  7. Looks like the peak of Storm Doris may coincide with my walk to work. Should be fun!
  8. 2.8 and -1.2, with light snow. No chance of settling.
  9. A few flakes of snow. Air temp of 3.1 and dew point of -0.4. Disappointing cold spell. Too sheltered by the Peak District and too marginal for proper snow anyway. Too much cloud for any night time frosts as well. Covering of snow yesterday was nice to see, but it was very icy and didn't last long.
  10. Whole empty house then Air temp 2.9 but dew point has fallen to -0.4
  11. Warning for snow above 150 meters across Staffordshire tonight into tomorrow. I'm at 143 meters. Maybe, if I stand on the roof I might see something!
  12. Air temp 2.8 Dew point 0.2 No snow left at all.
  13. Cheshire Gap streamer a few weeks back brought 3 inches of snow here.
  14. Was nice while it lasted. Reckon any showers tonight and tomorrow may still be wintry. Not sure there will be any accumulation though.
  15. Looks like the end for the snow here. Not much left on the ground and a few bits of drizzle in the air.
  16. Well, well, well. Proper snow falling and settling!
  17. Been greeted by an Arctic scene as I arrived home from work.
  18. Only about 140 metres or so where I am. My girlfriend lives a few miles away at 190 meters or so. Maybe a good excuse to go round there tomorrow!
  19. Can't help but notice the clear gaps over Stoke on those images
  20. So far it has been a pathetic effort in Stoke. This video shows the heaviest snow thus far. Edit. Video won't upload.
  21. Met Office radar shows a few snow showers making it across to Staffordshire this afternoon.
