  1. Only really for areas near to the North Sea coast. Further in land they should be low enough.
  2. People talking about this being a short cold snap. A 'blink and you will miss it' event. Can't say I agree. We may lose the cold upper air temperatures next week but, it will probably still be cold at the surface
  3. GFS is pretty snowy for our region on Saturday. UKMO model doesn't agree though.
  4. Good opportunities for snow across the east of the region during the rest of this week and the weekend. A lower risk for those of us further west I would think.
  5. Those higher up may see some wet snow tonight. Maybe, if I jump high enough I may be able to catch a few flakes myself!
  6. Awesome winter compared to my previous 3 in London
  7. Thursday looks a bit chilly here. Could be an ice day, with the temperature struggling to get above freezing and frost lasting all day.
  8. Not exactly the Arctic but a nice surprise.
  9. Met Office app is showing a heavy snow shower here around 9am. Hmm. My station is currently reading 0.8"c and a dew point of -4.0"c.
  10. Teaming it down. If only the cold air had hung on for longer.
  11. Air temp - 4.5"c. Dew point - 2.7"c. Moderate sleet/rain. The last of the snow melting away
  12. Such a difference in attitude up here compared to in London when it snowed. I got sick of people in London whining and moaning about how their lives were ruined by a cm of snow that lasted all of a day. Using it as an excuse to miss work and not get things done. These past few days I have not heard a single person complain here. People have embraced the conditions and got on with it. Everyone turned up for work. So refreshing!
  13. Surprisingly most of the fields are still covered in snow and some of the pavements in slush despite the temperature never dropping below freezing in this cold spell, highs of 4.5 degrees yesterday and 5.7 degrees so far today, and heavy sleet and rain earlier this morning. Stokie snow is resilient
  14. Pouring with very wet snow/sleet which is turning more to rain as the cold spell comes to an end
  15. Very light snow beginning to fall as that line of showers moves in. Edit - Snowing properly now and settling.
  16. That's odd. There's still quite a bit of snow here. Even on some of the pavements.
  17. Line of snow showers pushing down from North West England is starting to edge east toward the Staffordshire region.
  18. I lived in Kent in December 2010. That was interesting..... Bitterly easterly winds brought a streamer that brought continuous snow for 5 days.
  19. This is the best winter I've experienced in years. Fog, ice, frost, all lasting all day at times, and now the heaviest snow I've seen in years. However, that's probably because it's my first winter away from London, where the winters are snowless and boring.
  20. Still got a bit of snow cover and everything is freezing over. Should mean that if any does fall later it should stick.
  21. GFS showing a potential Cheshire Gap streamer. Although it looks marginal.
