  1. Now that is interesting! You and I champion the HIRLAM, and I stand by it as the best high res model in these situations
  2. Just showers there though, many will fade. We’re likely to get some more prolonged snow.
  3. I never said 4pm, that was another member. I said later in the afternoon. I do agree with the 4pm comment though. Nobody said the whole region would be covered in snow at 4pm, we said the developments would start then, and they are.
  4. Before I lose the will to live reading some of these comments of doom and gloom, let’s clarify things, yet again: 1) This is a developing situation 2) The late afternoon predictions still stand 3) The radar returns are now showing the development 4) If you’re still not convinced, I give up Just be patient and you’ll be rewarded....if you’re in a favourable location.
  5. Exactly! There’s nothing to write off with this developing situation. People need to be patient!
  6. Unlike earlier (when everything was very wet) with any heavier bursts of snow from now on, we should see settling on pavements. Dew points are now low enough to support this.
  7. Developments are clear now and on target. Loop the radar and check the Ipswich area. You’ll see how it’s expanding.
  8. I’m going to stick my neck out and say that prediction is wrong and no doubt will change as things progress!
  9. There will be an overall expansion though with the push north of the wave, so I wouldn’t worry too much about how it looks right now. As many have said, things will start to get interesting later this afternoon.
  10. This is what I was referring to. Moisture injection into the atmosphere as we move through the afternoon, pepping up the precipitation. Watch that area to the east of Kent expand.
  11. I expect to see the Amber area extend to cover more of the region later. If the frontal wave develops as expected, many will see a spell of continuous moderate to heavy snow.
  12. You might be a bit too far north and east for the frontal wave, but should see a fair few showers.
  13. I’ve got a feeling tonight will deliver much more than the previous spell, especially in terms of geographical coverage. Some areas could see significant accumulations by morning in our region, especially to the south and west of London.
  14. My thoughts exactly. Delay the snow and allow the cold to get deeper into the ground.
  15. Developments are starting to occur on the radar. Expect to see expansion of precipitation returns from mid afternoon.
  16. People will still check the radar now and say it’s all over though ??
  17. Latest TAF for LHR is showing heavy snow showers and blowing snow for this evening, especially later in the evening.
  18. I wouldn’t worry about a dry slot this afternoon. It looks as though more moisture will be injected into the atmosphere later associated with the wave feature. In a few hours time, I think the radar will start coming to life once again.
  19. I’m under that blob. It’s only settling on the grass, cars etc. The pavements and roads are very wet.
  20. Several hours of snow overnight could bring some substantial accumulations. Definitely one to watch!
  21. I’ve been watching that too. It wasn’t picked up by many high res models, which proves the nowcast theory when it comes to snow and easterlies!
  22. I think the main action will come later as the wave from the south engages with the trough through the Thames Valley. Some areas will see a big surprise from this!
  23. Just checked your local obs and it seems correct. I was just surprised as it was so much lower than here. Maybe we’ve had some cloud cover keeping temps up.
