  1. Oh great, I re read my post and thought ‘I hope she doesn’t think I’m saying that’ lol
  2. Certainly cancelled for March and early April. Should return to climatology thereafter
  3. Not at all. I meant an improvement for me, in my earlier post
  4. There seems to be a very distinct line between colder lower level and upper level across our region. Must have been some stalling of air masses.
  5. I think Facebook has its uses, but I also think it can be a nightmare. Like many things in life ??
  6. I’ve always been a bit nerdy when it comes to meteorology. I then went on to study it as part of my A Levels. As well as looking at the models and the science behind it, you also get a gut instinct. Take yesterday, for example. Many were predicting the biggest snowfalls here in the south from the warm front. I spent ages looking at the models, steering winds, temperature profiles etc. and I wasn’t convinced. I said the main precipitation would form in a band north of London through Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. This is what happened. People often say I’m too pessimistic, but I’m a realist based on what I observe and research. We all what a favourable outcome, but sometimes we need some balance and that’s why I try to add here ?
  7. Because they didn’t and often don’t believe what I say, even though it’s usually justified and I prove them wrong. Maybe they just look at their apps ???
  8. Going back to ‘the beast from the east’, here’s a post I made on Facebook 3 weeks ago, but was mocked by some at the time
  9. It won’t last or settle significantly. In fact, due to the warmer uppers, it will be heavy wet snow which may increase the thaw.
  10. Anyone with snow cover now, make the most of it. It’ll be gone by this time tomorrow.
  11. I love heat and I’m a bit of a sun junky when it comes to sunbathing. I’m going back to Vietnam in June. When I was there in June last year, the heat and humidity was quite extreme. On one day when I was there, the local airport (Danang) was reporting a temperature of 38c and a dewpoint of 28c. That was the most oppressive heat I’ve ever encountered in south east Asia.
  12. I know quite a few people who hate storms and I understand why, they can be very dangerous
  13. I do love a decent Summer with storms. I remember us chatting about the heat down here last Summer as those in the north moaned about their crap weather ??
  14. So, guys, as the beast is dying I was wondering what all your weather preferences are? For me, I love any extremes. Snow and cold in the Winter to heatwaves and severe thunderstorms in the Summer. Spring and Autumn are a bit ‘meh’ for me.
  15. You’re much further north though. I’m guessing anyone London south will be snow free. We have the odd patch left where the sun didn’t get to it. I’m guessing that will be gone by morning.
  16. I would imagine most of our region is snow free now. The thaw here today was very rapid and we had quite a substantial cover.
  17. Have you had any sun though? We had 5 inches of snow which has almost disappeared in the sun. There’s still a cover in the shade though.
