  1. The sun must have some real punch to it now. I’ve never seen such a rapid thaw!
  2. What an amazing week for the U.K. St. Athan, near Cardiff, recorded 55cm of level snow, so flooding will now be an issue there. I loved seeing the snow, but now the thaw is setting in, I’d rather it was rapid as I hate slush!
  3. I’ll be sad to see the snow thaw over the weekend, but all good things must come to an end. I think we’ll see some more snow this month, with any springlike temperatures a long way off. GFS has been hinting at a snow event as soon as next weekend, so watch this space
  4. Those north of London are lucky under that heavier and continuous band of snow. For the rest of us, mainly light and patchy snow which will continue to fragment. Was nice to see a proper ‘beast from the east’. Please pay us a visit again next Winter, but don’t feel you have to leave so quickly!
  5. The band of snow appears to be fragmenting to the south of London, with an obvious clearance along the south coast. Apart from a few heavier bursts, I can’t see much more for this region today. It looks as though the front has made progress north a little faster than expected.
  6. Very heavy snow developing across the north of London now, pretty much where I expected it to be.
  7. Yes, quite a turnaround. One of the neighbours has just been over to invite me to snow drinks tonight. Any excuse sounds good to me ?
  8. Best we’ve had here in years, so I’m pleased after feeling hard done by the other day ?
  9. Even if we don’t get much more today, I’m happy to settle for the almost 5 inches we’ve had ?
  10. Snow now building to the north of here, so I still think the sweet spot will be to the north of London for the most prolonged and heavy snowfall.
  11. Heavier snow falling here now, but the wind has picked up and the snow is blowing rather than settling on the existing cover.
  12. I still think the sweet spot for today will be in a line through Oxfordshire, Bucks, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and into East Anglia. I think areas around London and to the south will see snow, but not as much. I hope to be proved wrong!
  13. The radar still looks very uninspiring. Hopefully things will pep up soon!
  14. I swear these bloody weather apps should be banned. I’ve tried to give a balanced view to my family based on what the models have shown throughout this event (along with some of my ok knowledge), only to be told ‘well my app doesn’t show that’. The app then changes to show what I was telling them and I get ‘Oh you were right’. No matter how many times I tell them not to take the apps as gospel, they still look at them constantly. So frustrating ??
  15. I see a post above with snow developing over France. I hope that has our name on it for later ?
  16. I think uppers are predicted to drop a little, so we should be ok. I just think the bulk will develop to our north, leaving us with patchy stuff
  17. Still not convinced. All models I’ve seen showing it developing where it is now before moving north, so more a north London northwards event. Of course I hope it doesn’t play out like that though, with us all seeing one last snowfall before the drip drip starts tomorrow.
  18. Filling to the north though, which ties in with the models. I hope I’m wrong, but feel most of the snow will develop just to our north
  19. I’m not very optimistic about any significant snow in our region today. Most models show heavier snow developing to our north, with things remaining patchy here, so unless the wind drops, it’ll just keep blowing around. There are then indications of slightly milder air moving north, which ties in with the latest Met Office thoughts of a thaw setting in by dawn tomorrow. This cold snap was crap for me to start, but we ended up with a surprise snowfall, so I’m happy about that. On to Spring now ?
  20. Things look a bit dodgy for the south east at the moment, but I’ve just spent ages looking at model output, checking radar loops and general getting my nerd on, and do believe the precipitation currently hugging the south coast will soon head inland and pep up a little before continuing its journey north west.
  21. Definitely! They must have added 3 or 4cm today. Hopefully we’ll see the heavier stuff later and top it up further.
  22. Haha! My prediction is 6 inches in total, so another 3 inches on top of what we currently have ?
