  1. Could be right, I’m just surprised as the temperature here has levelled off for the time being at 5.7c
  2. Really? I’m just down the road from you and it’s a steady 5.7c here. All local obs are in a similar ballpark too
  3. HIRLAM was at odds last time, but was almost spot on. Not to say the same will happen this time, but it seems to handle these scenarios better than other high res models.
  4. HIRLAM will be my model of choice. Just need the above to shift 20 miles west to bring this area into the game, but it will keep changing.
  5. Also, HIRLAM was by far the best high res model during the last cold spell.
  6. Very good! I think most of the south will see a good cover by Sunday.
  7. For anyone worrying about snow accumulations and distribution, don’t! This will come down to a nowcasting event, much as last time. Take this area, for example. We were predicted very little snow, but thanks to a continuous streamer, ended up with 12cm. Snow is notoriously difficult to nail, so expect changes at short notice!
  8. I think you needed to be around the last time to appreciate my humour there.
  9. I know, I was having a laugh. The Amber zone will more than likely change several times.
  10. I’m about 1 mile north of the Amber zone issued by the Met Office ??
  11. Last time I think we had a more favourable wind direction for this area. You never know though.
  12. We did unexpectedly well here during the last event, but I’m not expecting too much snow here in east Berkshire this weekend.
  13. I love the heat. The only difference between north and south is in the winter months. From late April onwards, the whole country is hot and humid.
  14. Just booked my flights to Vietnam for the end of May. If it’s anything like last year, the temperature will be in the high 30’s with DP’s in the high 20’s. Love that oppressive heat ??
  15. Cold March, yes. To predict next winter is more than a gamble
  16. I tell you what though, there are many rampers in here who have failed miserably and then vanish into the shadows. My advice would be as follows. There are a few people here who give a good and balanced view....Steve Murr and a few others (hopefullly me included). Many others I’d ignore, a bit like a BBC forecast ?
  17. I’m glad it’s gone now. March will be below average and miserable in that respect, the first half of April might be too, but then I think we’ll return to climatology or better. It’ll be a slow burner
  18. They always jump on one run and the usual suspects over ramp. I just sit back and watch it unfold. If I ramp, I’m getting excited and certain about something. I don’t think I’ve ramped too much ?
  19. Just to put the cold spell into perspective. I got some ribbing from my Scottish friends about them having more snow than us blah, blah, blah. Well, me being me, I spent some time looking into this, and here are the official stats. The top 2 are in the south of the U.K. ?
