  1. Chilly after the clearance. One of those weird days where it was snowing sleeting hailing and sunny at the same time at one point. Ready for some spring warmth but this week is looking cool and unsettled.
  2. Their Twitter page has the latest updates, resuming services shortly on a few lines but yeah they cancelled everything earlier including no replacement bus services.
  3. Merseyrail have cancelled all the trains at least work will be quiet. No disruption other than that the roads were fine. Lovely wintry scenes before the March sun does a number on it.
  4. I’m pleased to have woken up to a covering it’s not a lot but I didn’t think it would happen to be honest
  5. It’s been a confusing day and looking at the radar…I’m none the wiser about what’s going on maybe something tonight who knows.
  6. A very unpleasant drive home, belting it down with snow all the way with the added joy of plenty of surface water not a combination which brings joy to the heart.
  7. Beefy snow shower in Ormskirk again, heading home soon what an odd weather day it been.
  8. Looks sleety in Ormskirk now to be honest. Still holding out a bit of hope for tonight perhaps but about ready to throw the towel in on this one. I’ll remember it for falling daylight snow but it’s a 0/10 for accumulation so far.
  9. I’ve never known it to snow for so long over the past 2 days with literally no accumulation, not even on the plants and trees outside work bloody north west hah
  10. It’s actually proper snow in ormskirk now which is lovely to see falling, still only a bit of accumulation on grass though. Interesting to see how it all plays out throughout the day and into the night.
  11. Interesting differences over small areas. At work in ormskirk it’s just the same snizzly stuff from yesterday albeit that it’s managed to deposit some slush on the grass.
  12. Starting to settle on the grass and stuff here but it’s light. It looks like yesterdays snow I want to see some chunky flakes
  13. Up early in the morning, I'm interested to see where the front will be. Still can't see it as of 11 pm on the radar unless it's that sliver of precip appearing southwest of Ireland.
  14. Leaving work now it’s still snowing feels bloomin raw out, I’m surprised (am I really ) to see zero accumulation. Been nice to see it falling but as others have alluded to it goes to show that weather forecasting has a long way to go. Not a lot has been correctly said this week other than it going colder.
  15. Cool to see falling snow during the day that in itself is pretty rare here
  16. Bit of snizzle in the air in ormskirk too I actually preferred the sunshine yesterday but maybe a bit more will get north today.
  17. Perhaps this is what some of the automated forecasts are picking up (pinched from another thread) you can never take these precip charts as gospel but it shows the level of uncertainty even 24 hours out (This is icon 6pm tomorrow)- this was a south coast of England affair t'other day. Radar watching and nowcasts will be the order of the next few days and hopefully, we all see something.
  18. Keep the faith there should be some snow about. In the meantime it’s chilly out there, hoping for another lovely sunny day tomorrow. There’s definitely more late minute drama to come with thurs/fri. Tomorrows met office update will be interesting I stand by what I said this morning that I don’t envy them having to make the call.
  19. Met office must be having kittens calling this one. You've got a potentially disruptive event seemingly starting in the morning and lasting through the day but where do you put the amber warning? I feel like further north than imby but I'm pretty certain storm Antoni will be named soon by them. Output for imby shows everything from a bit of snow turning to rain to snowing most of the day a bit more than 48 hours out - nightmare for forecasters
  20. Even if it's not a snowmageddon I hope to see a bit of frontal snowfall at least. Then it can warm up thank you very much I'm ready for spring, what a beautiful morning by the way I love arctic airmasses.
  21. Woke up to a dusting here too. Looks like the shower passed through at around 5:30 this morning. Looks quite powdery which has been interesting in this spell it’s usually very wet snow here from NWerly.
  22. Another snow and ice warning has just been issued, this one cuts out coastal areas so met must be thinking showers tonight will be more marginal at the coasts.
  23. Little snow shower passing through here - some showers look like a streamer into Lancaster - far more interesting is the polar low east of Aberdeen. I'd recommend any weather fans take a look at the radar loop over the past few hours because it is cool seeing the rotation of it's bands around the 'warm' core centre. Quite unusual to see one passing over the sea within UK's radar range.
  24. I think the only criticism I would have for the Met Office warning is the extent of the area under the same warning (literally Northern Ireland to Ayrshire to Merthyr Tydfil. It's also valid for another 13 hours so who knows what will happen over that large area. For me yesterday will be remembered more than today imby because of the powdery snow showers and some areas which hardly ever see snow getting a covering. Today has been very much business as usual kitchen sink, sporadic Irish Sea convection.
