Precip stopped here for now everywhere is soaked rather than snowy, ice will be a hazard in line with the met office thinking I guess. -

Sleet very dark quite a few flakes mixed in but it’s majority rain. Pretty gross compared to the last 2 days. Think the bulk of this streamer will pass just to the south of where I am it’s a very NNW flow. -

Last shower fell as snow in ormskirk let’s see what the bulk of this streamer does when it arrives as it appears it’ll pass directly over this location. Actually feels too warm out there to settle here at this time but we’ll see -

Sunny in ormskirk I can see the streamer clouds to the south. I didn’t expect convection until this afternoon, quite a big blob approaching Isle of Man, il check out the webcams but it’s not an ideal time of day for it to kick off unless the showers become very frequent. -

It's been quite interesting that the spell so far has felt like we're more under a big high pressure system. It's not been so much of a northerly down to the meandering areas of 'low' pressure putting us in this 'inbetween' state. I have loved the sunny, crisp weather (I also love snow) but all of us in lower elevation and coastal areas of the region do need to brace ourselves for the great enemy tomorrow - cold rain. If we get some sustained streamers after dark then maybe we can see some snow but I'm bracing myself for the worst after 2 days of weather I personally really enjoy. -

Met office have extended the ice warning much further inland than it was so they’re clearly seeing a signal for precipitation too. As much as I would like some snow I’m really enjoying this glorious crisp sunshine. Not really in the mood for cold rain showers -
It's going to be a shock to the system to experience actual cold weather from midweek. I love a northerly arctic airmass for a few reasons - one being selfish because easterlies just don't deliver the goods (very often) in this part of the region but even if we don't see snow if it's sunny there will be excellent visibility.

It feels quite strange to be going to work shortly in a met office red warning, We do have aircon there though so I’m glad of that our house will be a lot less comfortable. Yesterday was a really lovey day though I thought proper hot summers day, I’m interested to see how rapidly the temperature can rise today as it did yesterday afternoon.

I'm concerned that, as usual when it comes to the weather, that it's not being taken very seriously by a lot of employers/general public. It's our graduation week at the uni and as far as I'm aware they're still going ahead. I work in a different part of the uni and should be able to access aircon. I'm not looking forward to the commutes home on Monday and Tuesday though.

I don't often comment in the summer months (I always lurk mind you.) It's not often you see an xc weather observation map at gone 10 o'clock at night where most of England is still warmer than 20 degrees. The 'tropical nights' are becoming a feature of our climate - even up here. I hope for a thundery breakdown at some point but the weekend temp forecasts are alarming, interesting though they are from a meteorological standpoint. It feels inevitable that 40degrees c will be achieved at some point in the not too distant future, 30+ is a bit much for me personally haha.

It's been a weird winter snow wise. It has reaffirmed my belief that imby a Northerly or NEly is actually the best for non-marginal snow. Unfortunately they are rare and usually dry but November provided this year and that's about it. Easterlies are too dry and anything from the west or NW can* provide but has to run the gauntlet of marginal stuff.

Penny Garth Cafe live webcam | Penny Garth Cafe PENNYGARTHCAFE.CO.UK Penny Garth Cafe in Hawes is a popular stop for Motorcyclists, Walkers, Families, Cyclists. Watch the live webcam to see the weather in the Yorkshire Dales Thought I'd link this to challenge that old myth of 'ground too wet to stick' Of course it helps being in the hills for Hawes but the physics are the same XD

Storm Eunice - 18th February
Mark_p replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Eunice is making her present felt in the north west now. Impressive sustained winds and some powerful gusts in ormskirk.
