  1. According to this article we are going to see things get a little colder....... http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/Arti...ing_ice_age.pdf
  2. It's been a balmy day all in all. 9c. I nearly got my shorts and t-shrit on! Agreed. Best year for a long time. I still think we could see some more but if we didn't, I'm more than content!
  3. What are your views on this now 24hr later? My gut instinct tells me there is a surprise or two yet!
  4. Welcome aboard Watsy! Still got heavy snow here. Everywhere covered again.
  5. Cloud cover is thickening up here. No snow yet but radar shows we are just on the edges right now. Cold night last night. We got down to -4.8c. Currently -1.7c. Extremely icy outside. If it snows on top of that, at this temperature things are going to be fairly nasty out and about.
  6. You should be seeing some light precipitation soon but the main band won't hit you for maybe an hour or so.
  7. Cheers Dexter! It's very quiet on here tonight! ............ ..................(notices snow covered tumble weed) I was at my in-laws today just up in the hills above Ballyclare and they had about 3-4 inches of snow. So I did the dutiful thing and had a snowball fight, built a snowman and made the obligatory snow angel! I haven't had a much fun in snow as when I was a wee yap! Uploading seems a problem tonight so I will get the photos on later! Radar just picked up the band of rain approaches the fringes of the south west. If there is enough to make a snowball with, I'll chuck it in your direction!
  8. BBC weather was jinting at this being a fairly beefy event on Sunday for Ulster. I think we could see some serious disruption here. What would help would be if the folk who are at risk of disruption figure it our before they find themselves stuck in the middle of it. Either leave earlier or later for work but plan ahead.
  9. Lets not forget his winning of the alternative winter forecast! Got about half 6 this morning bright as a button. Slight skiffs overnight here everywhere is white and frozen solid. Temp is +2c at present but a cold night. Showers running down the east coast of Antrim and Down. Watcher your right in the firing line of it. Sunday does look good, Must check Monday's diary!
  10. Okay. Finally got round to getting some photo's off my camera from the snow both yesterday and today.
  11. Temp was down to -.5c there but is back up to 0c Keeping an eye on radar and looks like we might get some showers through the night. Regardless it's going to be a cold one!
  12. I'm delighted to say that Ballyclare has snow on the ground. Still a bit to catch up on other areas but the showers have been much more frequent from the late afternoon. Work was fun getting to and I saw a man driving his car with the boot open. Sitting in the boot was someone with a snowboard strapped to their feet. (Not on the main roads!) Temp to get very cold again tonight and BBC giving snow on Sunday. Great heavy snow shower this morning in Belfast!
  13. Its -3.4 outside and everywhere is frozen solid. Lots of ice this morning so be carful. I work not far from your place Mountain Shadow and I expect things to get a bit rough on the Saintfield Road! Great news Snowplough. Real glad you got some snow!
  14. I know the area very well. A foot of snow is crazy. I have had the same amount of lying snow as you Johnny. Yet less than half a mile in any direction around Ballyclare has snow! Close but no cigar could be how I sum up the winter so far in terms of lying snow. I think this winter has been smashing compared to previous ones but I would like to get a good dumping of snow. Snowed her from 9pm last night to about 3 pm today. 18 hours of snow and quite a bit of today was heavy but none got to grip with the ground. Belfast was absolutley mad this morning!! Current temp is starting to drop and now 0.7c Dew point is 0c but had risen to 1c during the afternoon. Lets hope the downward trend continues. All eyes on the approaching weekend then! :o
  15. Just spent threee hours in the car for a return journey of 40 mins. Balycalre was as clean as a whistle this morning and half a mile away was white. Belfast was an absolute nightmare and i turned to come home. Driving a rear wheel drive car in snow is not fun at all. Fairly heavy snow in Ballyclare now and it is starting to get a grip on the ground. Grass is already white. Radar shows showers continuing on my direction. Lets hope so. Belfast got it good. Loads of schools closed. Got some good photo's on my phone so will upload later when I get the chance.
  16. I feel your disappointment. It has been the same here. I'm just going to trust my own senses for snow for now. Chin up! It's not over yet and we have had a much more actively cold winter this year! A little bit more strength in the sun will help strengthen shower activity and if cold enough, snow!
  17. Well it is still snowing here and I can assume it has been all night. However, there is absolutley no snow on the ground, cars or gardens. Major disappointment. We wait again for a decent event of lying snow.
  18. Nice pic there Ronan. Has just started with the finest of lightest snow. Only detectable at the lamp post. This is slow moving stuff. Good luck folks!
  19. I'm keeping my powder dry! I'll celebrate if it comes but not going to excite myself needlessly. Having said that, BRING IT ON!
  20. Just read the wrning on the met office site. They really have left things to the wire here. Radar shows this as snow but warning is for sleet as well. Lets sit back and prepare for some lamp post watching! .........Again.........!
  21. Local BBC weather has talked about more significant snow for tomorrow night into Thursday but they are keeping their cards close to their chest on the details. We may not have seen a lot of snow here but the craic has been good and i'm glad for those folk who have seen some. I'd love to be up to my armpits in it but i'm not going to stress out if I don't see it. Just enjoying the ride! Was interested to read Kippures post in the Ireland forum where he mentioned he was getting sick of the sight of snow! Good luck to all! :o
  22. Just got up to see lots of sleet coming down and everywhere soaking wet. Radar showing rain and sleet. Bugger!
  23. I got ya on that score. If the car so much as thinks about slipping tomorrow (When I put the foot down!) I think I'd better hang up the keys! Temp down to 1C and still coming down. Starting to get a bit of a better grip on the road.
  24. I never get to stressed about snow days! Temp down here to 1.6. Coming down quite a bit heavier now making a good grip on the grass and starting on the cars. My Road and Pavements are not gritted as its a cul-de-sac so the ground is slushy but getting there. It's definitley weird weather we have!
  25. Your not that far away from me sir! I've noticed my temp is starting to drop off too. Lets hope this trend continues. There is a fairly heavy belt of precipitation moving in. Should be hitting the east coast soon. Fingers crossed for all tonight! Might have some trouble getting in to work tomorrow.
