  1. It's Brass here in Ballyclare. It's -2.5 and the fog is patchy but very thick in the patches. Been around here all day and lifted about tea time. Gotta go pick my wife up from her Christmas Do!!!!
  2. I used to be in a first aid organisation. We had our own fleet of ambulances and having taken a rugby player to the local A+E unit we got into the ambulance to head back to the rugby grounds. As we got into the ambulance, it started to snow. By the time we got to the gates of the hospital everywher was white. Our route took us on the outer ring in Belfast and up a very steep hill. Traffic was at a standstill and the ambulance service were half way up the hill at an accident I told the driver to stick the blue lights on and head into the middle of the road and head towards the accident, to lend a hand. There was a large blue flash from outside and I thought that the ambulance blue beacon had blown. The driver had not yet put the lights on. Then we heard the rumble of thunder. Just the one peal but the lightning was definetly blue in colour. Same thing happened when I was driving into Ballyclare about 10 years ago (or so). Coming down the hill into ballyclare and still well outside the towns lights, I saw a huge blue flash off to the right where there was a heavy snow shower clearing off from the town. Only saw lightning in snow twice and both times was awe struck by it. Something to behold.
  3. Lashing with rain this morning and it gradually changed to sleet and then a quite significant snowfall. Nothing landed naturally but a nice suprise al the same.
  4. I suppose that a lot of the old folklore for reading the weather will be defunct with the changes in the weather! Not liking the cutting of the lawn all year round. Sounds far to mild for snow! Cheers Geri!
  5. I am still hoping to get another cut of the grass and the Hedge needs a serious trim! The leaves are turning quickly here and the fruit patch is dying back. 2 months ago, I dug up a two foot strip round the front garden and plant loads of bulbs for spring. Snowdrops in the lawn and daffs/crocs/tulips round the border. Bushes planted to give colours from january to October. For some strange reason I have some bulbs coming up! This is not an isolated incident as a work colleague has a whole row coming up. Does any one know if this is a sign of something or are they just rogue bulbs?
  6. We managed to get another covering lasdt night. About 1 cm or so. NOt as cold last night, only down to -1.8c. Do'nt expect much more in the way of snow, but definitley count myself as one of the lucky ones.

  8. Down to -6.2 last night. Currently -1.8 and it's snowing like a bugger. Been on this past half hour or so and has covered everywhere. Before there was only the frozen remains of yesterdays snow. Weather warning out for NI. B)
  9. The showers seem to be building up again. Had a fairly hefty one come through about twenty minutes ago and here comes another. They are starting to lie but there is a good thaw on nonetheless. Temp is only sitting at 2C.
  10. Currently -o.4 outside and dropping quickly when its not snowing. Had some cracking showers and starting to get quite frequent. There has been talk on the local NI weather of 2 inches to most parts and the potential for 4 inches on the higher ground. Will be getting some pics later if poss.
  11. Not far from you, up in Ballyclare! got a good dusting. Was chucking it down about six and looks like its going to kick off again. Lets hope it keeps on coming! It's just started again!
  12. Yes, it's been and gone. Pretty cold and plenty of frosts but not much in the way of snow. Still hopeful for the rest of the winter! Going back to work tomorrow. Been off for almost 2 weeks so I can't really complain and I've done the obligatry drinking buckets over christmas. Great! Is anyone else going to be sick if they are given a trukey sandwhich? Mate of mine has come over from Aussie for Christmas and it has been great to get caught up with him! Been gone 2 years and it's like he has never been away. Made my Cherry brandy which seems to have gone down a treat with some family members requesting their Second bottle. Watched a great program onm beeb2 last night about a guy who became a man with a tribe called the mukoko. The process seemed a little hairy at times and seems to have left profound effects with him a year on, for the better I think. Usual dose of LOST last night and then saw Mr. Bond save the day. Gonna start with my wifes drama club on saturday. Will be taking the kids who want to work backstage and start teaching them the basics and then we start designing and building sets! Wish the bloke across the road would take his lights down! Anybody watch Withnail and I? Ah well! gonna put the feet up and relax on my last day off cos this year is gonna be very busy!

  17. It's -0.9C here. Monday night. Just had the constitutional hot whiskey with the grandmother! Wild woman leading me astray! Everywhere a bit slippy on the way home. Not sure if it was the alcohol or the frost that is settling down over here.
  18. Currently 6.5C here. Getting the odd sleet shower coming in. Lovely covering of snow this morning. Snow covering reduced greatly as I headed down into Belfast, Increasing as I rose up the other side. Had my snowball fight with the nephew, I won  . Temp -1.2C Humidity 99% Nice and frosty but its also icy as a dampness decended prior to the freeze. Should make the journey to work more interesting!
