Think I'll move the fireworks out from the shed this weekend! there's a big ol' tree still in full leaf right behind it in next doors garden, and it's already leaning to the north east!
Would rather not wake up to fireworks shooting all over the garden come early Monday morning

Lowest I've recorded here is 5.4c, 7:08am 16th October.
Gonna be waiting until Late November for a ground frost at this rate

I don't know too much about the CET yet so won't be posting an entry, but I have a question.
OP states:
-4.6 ... coldest day (23rd, 1890)
Is this the minimum temperature recorded on that date, or the average temperature of that date?
Surely it's the minimum
All I know is that CET is run on averages

Recent Octobers have of course been mild , the three mildest Octobers on record in the CET series occurred in recent times
13.0c 2006
13.1c 2005
13.3c 2001
2011 was the 8th mildest on record at 12.6c
1974 at 7.8c 30th coldest
1993 at 8.5c 67th coldest
1981 at 8.6c 73rd coldest
are the only Octobers in recent decades that make the top 100 coldest Octobers.
Wont be getting a cold October this year, that is a significant trend to warmer Octobers which I am not sure has been explained ??
Is there anywhere we can see preliminary figures for this years October CET?

Sorry to go a bit OT, but does anyone know what wind speed is needed to ground flights?
My old man is flying out to Germany tomorrow morning at 7:55am from Stansted Airport so I'm curious
