  1. Climbing on to roofs to measure snow, this reminds me of something funny I had to a few winters back!

After a night of heavy snow, my mum decided that she wanted the Christmas lights putting up, so my job was to get onto the flat 2 story roof and shift the snow to make it safe to work on, down the street all my neighbours were ploughing their drives clearing the paths, meanwhile I'm 30 foot in the air ploughing all the snow off of the rooftop!

Had a few funny looks that evening Posted Image

  2. Some are saying snow to lower levels only up in the northern half of the country, I can see they have -8 uppers, where I have -6, Metcheck shows snow for my area overnight, is it more or less a case of waiting for the precipitation and seeing what falls out of the sky?

Max temps here for Tues / Weds are 3.5c, also I can't see where much of this precipitation is coming from, the GFS has a few gaps in it?

Waiting for the 12z run to finish updating right now!

  3. how can i look at it please?

MC also showing Snow for Benfleet on weds! But rain for Southend!

If this does somehow pull off, I may be missing college on Weds Posted Image

Not because 'it snowed', but because I want to see the first fall in my area !

  4. Another slight ground frost this morning

Min temp: 2.4c (lowest so far this autumn) about 15 mins ago

    Current temp: 2.8c

    Pressure: 1035.1... Posted Image  wow!

Is there any chance that because of this monster high pressure over us right now, some of that colder upper atmosphere air is being forced down upon us, which is why many of us are experiencing the lowest temperatures so far this autumn? Just a thought

  5. A March 2013 Easterly would do me. Was utter rubbish for this area due to the colder North Sea, had it been a few months earlier though, much of the country would have been buried (I know some were)

What difference does a colder north sea make?

Would it mean that there's less energy in the sea, and so less moisture is sucked up to produce snow clouds?

Posted Image If that's wrong, please correct me, it was a guess and I'm here to learn Posted Image

  6. If only tonight stayed clear my area may have seen it's first ground frost!

As you can see the cloud starts rolling in around 3am, I reckon if the sky stayed clear I could've seen an air temp of maybe the low 2's by 7am!

EDIT: Actually I've only just seen the predicted ground temps, all hope is lost now Posted Image At least tonight will be the coldest here so far this autumn!

Minimum temp so far seen this season is 4.3c, that was the morning of Halloween!

  7. It's looking like Tuesday morning will be the coldest so far this autumn in the south east region.

Closest we're going to get to a ground frost so far looks like 2.4c or there abouts, I'm in quite a built up area so I reckon some of the more remote areas may just see their first ground frost down here Posted Image

Here's hoping the temperature forecasts will lower a bit further before Tuesday!
