Meto still only using rain symbols for the south, even though wind advisories are added to the text, are there not going to be separate wind warnings?
Not everybody reads the wall of text

km/h
Thank god for that! I was getting worried then
-
On the plus side it seems to have been shifted a bit north.
However that doesn't chnge the fact it is still set to be extremely windy on Monday. Anywhere in the UK could see gusts of 50-60 mph.
Then as the low gets closer to Scotland, winds look like they may gust to 90-100mph
Holy moly!!
Please don't tell me that's in mph?

Not this one then ....

Sod all here apart from a load of heavy rain! ¬_¬ Certainly wasn't expecting any snow anyhow, unlike some people
Temperature is dropping again now, down to 3.6c, may be a bit icy in the morning
-
Temperature has started to drop here, slowly falling away from what was 8.1c now to 6.2c
Moderate cloud cover overhead, I'm thinking that come 9pm if we could get down to 4c here I may be in for a chance of some sleet
-
That's quite promising, I've just checked your location and V6 radar is only showing rain in your area, this means that many other places showing up rain may actually be getting sleet / snow
What's the current temp there?
-
No snow forecast here, just rain!
When the precipitation starts around 9pm here the temperature is expected to be around 6c
Be quite surprised if any of the areas near me get any sleet let alone snow!
-
Maybe if we all promise to eat at least 5 sprouts with Christmas dinner we can blow this thing back into the North Atlantic?
The weather should freshen up again ready for the New Year, literally

Had some moderate wind earlier and quite a bit of rain, pretty much all gone now? I thought it was meant to be picking up again after midnight?
Temperature is also picking up, now 8.6c
Pressure: 985.6hPa
Still overcast here with a slight breeze
-
Looks like Santa may be blown around a bit whilst out on his deliveries for Christmas eve in our area

The MO are also showing the same concern for the east coast, at least the last time I checked I was in for 50mph+ gusts
-
Not too foggy here but a nice crisp -1.1c start
-
Temperature here is dropping like a stone! 0.4c now
Be surprised if we don't see an air frost here tonight!
Will be dicey tomorrow morning, with all this fog around ice is going to stick to everything! Can already see clumps of it forming on the colder surfaces outside!
-
Extreme fog here and currently 2.7c
Netweather forecast seems to be a bit off for tonight

Old Leigh has some water coming up the drains but mostly escaped. A few properties have been flooded though. The sea wall has a few inches to spare.
Them few inches to spare may well disappear at the next high tide!I wonder what the situation is between the stretch of c2c line between leigh and chalkwell right now
Where abouts on the seafront was that picture taken by the way? I'm trying to picture it in my head

This is down by the casino in Southend
What happened to the sea wall?

The warnings all around me has been upgraded to severe - Hullbridge, Rochford, and the river Crouch. I'm gonna go for a drive down Southend in a minute to see the tide down there.... the girlfriend thinks I'm mad
Have fun!
Wish I could go down there, would cost a fortune though!
I'll be in college tomorrow and finish just before high tide, which is meant to be even higher tomorrow. I'll be down there taking pictures !

Southend Tide
Tide Gauge : Southend
Date/Time: 00:03 06-Dec-13
Height : 6.53 metres
2.33 metres above prediction
A tide height of 6m was predicted at high tide at 2:17am, we're already .5m over that, 2 hours before hand!

Relative to what exactly? I was under the impression the height of a high tide was measured from the height of the previous low tide. I didn't think it had any relationship to land based structures or altitude.
I may be wrong ....................... HELP
That's a very good question! haha
I don't actually know how to answer that one, the site states a high tide of 6.2m, I just wanted to know how high that is in relation to the sea walls..
Very helpful I know

The tide times website shows a high tide tonight for Southend of 6m, and then tomorrow afternoons high tide is 6.2m
How high are the sea walls in southend? I have a feeling there may be some water on the road, Google's altitude maps show parts of the seafront well below 6m

evening all
I did not expect Southend to get included in the flood warnings, this could make it interesting for C2C trains in the morning, especially the run between Leigh and Benfleet....
I hope the folks on Canvey and Foulness Islands will be OK, worrying times
Stay safe
FC
Gonna be fun for me getting to college tomorrow morning.
Traveling from Benfleet to Southend Central!

Currently 8.1c here, lowest I monitored last night was 1.7c, but it surely dropped after I fell asleep, about 12:30am.
Pressure: 1008.6hPa and dropping
Breezy outside with a few strong gusts, have a fence panel blown down here, patchy cloud with blue skies, some darker here and there

Lost my first fence panel here, and it's nowhere to be seen! I've gone upstairs to check 4 of the gardens downwind and nothing! Vanished.
Looks like I'll be knocking door to door on Christmas eve trying to find it
